I was really disappointed by this episode. The Santos campaign storyline wasn't bad; it gave us a good view of the pressure cooker that is a presidential campaign less than a week from Election Day. It would have been very good if--IF--it had been coupled with a substantial prime story.

Unfortunately, the story section dealing with Toby was awful. For one, the writers seem oblivious to the fact that they tossed aside one of the show's central characters with little or no explanation. WHY did Toby divulge the information? Was it connected to his brother's death? Did he not want more astronauts to die? Was he angry at the Administration for letting his brother die? This story deserved a significant portion of the season, yet it hasn't received that. All we get are implications. Finally, after a whole season of waiting, we get a veiled implication that Toby received the information, not from his dead brother, but from someone on high. But no answers.

Yet, I could have lived with the murky information, were it not for Toby's final scene in the episode. Frankly, Toby has turned into a pompous, self-righteous jerk. I really can't stand him anymore. He, and he alone, screws his party over by creating a massive scandal bare months before an election. When the US Attorney tries to do his job, Toby has the audacity to be arrogant, as if the US Attorney is the bad guy. Honestly, who does he think he is? He stands in front of the man and mouths an absolute lie: namely, that he got the information from no one. No prosecutor should be expected to believe this. If Toby refuses to cooperate, then he, and he alone, bears responsibility for ruining the election, not anyone else.

I want to add one thing: if Toby's brother didn't do it, then Toby is 100% in the right for not naming him. That's a slimy thing to do, and it was slimy of Andi to push him to do it. If David did leak the information...well, again, that's Toby's choice and I can't fault him.

But, either way, Toby is the one who broke federal laws and put everyone in this position. No one else is to blame.

Hey! Did anyone notice the previews?
