When the President was killed, Tyr was sent into convulsions by his lance. However, when the lance fired again at the end, it only gave him a mild electric shock. Had someone reprogrammed it in the interim?

I was surprised that Tyr got shocked at all. It's hardly an experience I can see him volunteering for; and if they sprung it on him as a surprise the crew would be left with an extremely cranky crewmate.

I think they weren't going to cover up the murder of the president, but the destruction of the Nietzian station.
