By Triggins (Triggins) on Saturday, November 18, 2000 - 6:18 pm:

Rafe Valentine Beka's conartist brother comes aboard claiming to be a member of the Wayist and escorting the leade of the Wayists to a peace talks with terrorists calling themselves the Restorians who are attacking starships.
Rev discovers a video of Rafe at a Restorian protest rally that Beka uses to confront Rafe with. Rafe tells here he is a spy for the Free Trade Alliance and that real leader of the Wayist is dead and has been replaced by a Restorian spy.
The imposter releases nanobots into Andromeda's system shutting the ship down as a fleet of Restorian ships come in for the attack.

We learn that Beka comes from a family of conartists.
The unknown enemy from a previous episode were the Restorians.
Surfing is the big sporting event of the era.

An enjoyable episode.

Some of the action came off kinda hokey to me though.

Tyr says that the punch should end at the back of your opponents skull. I guess Neitzchiens don't study karate where (as Bill Cosby put it;-) you think through your opponent. If you're going to break through a board, brick, or skull, you're supposed to follow all the way through, not stop.

How can Rev let the Wayists know where Andromeda is without Andromeda knowing? She has to broadcast the signal.

How did Beka get out of the fighter & into the Maru? It didn't appear there was an umbilical between the two ships.

So why doesn't Andromeda have any nanobot defenses? It seems like an obvious attack method.

How many decks does a ship with a crew of 4,000 have? If there are more than 26 decks they'll have to refer to them by something besides the alphabet.

Saw the episode for the first time. First, some sort of anti nits.

Dylan indicates at the end that he knew all along that Rev Bem had told the Wayists about Andromeda's location, so it's likely that she did know about the broadcast.

I think Andromeda does have nanobot defenses--someone comments that her nanobots proved stronger than the invading ones. That said, they don't seem to be very _good_ nanobot defences, since it took quite a while for her to get back online. On the other hand, perhaps nanobots have advanced in the last 300 years.

Tyr really needs to refine his training program. Trance is _not_ going to be able to defeat very many people using brute force; she needs some way to overcome bigger opponents.

Speaking of Tyr, has it ever been established _why_ he keeps staying on the Andromeda? All he seems to do is hang around and gripe about Dylan's impracticality.

By now, he's surely figured out that he will never be able to take the Andromeda without her permission--which would _not_ happen if he killed Dylan. So--why is he there?

Don't get me wrong, I like the character. I just can't figure out what his motives are.

Well, survival is his raison d'être, and his chances on the biggest and most powerful ship around are better then they'd be if he stayed in the mercenary business...

Tyr doesn't necesarily have to kill Dylan, he just has to outlast him. Maybe he figures sooner or later Dylan will get himself killed & that he could get Andromeda then?

Or maybe he's secretly in love with Dylan. (Just kidding. Just kidding.)
