By Triggins (Triggins) on Saturday, November 24, 2001 - 8:40 pm:

After a disappionting round of war games with the Castalian fleet a Commonwealth courier ship arrives with a message from Dylan's fiance. Dylan takes the message in his quarters where Sarah informs him that she got on with her life, married and we discover that when she was making the recording she was expecting.
Dylan then meets with Liuetenant Brown, the courier, who informs him the Commonwealth survived on a planet called Terra Zed. Evidently Sarah gathered the survivors from the Andromeda and the Starry Wisdom and their families and founded Terra Zed waiting for the day that Dylan would return to restore the Commonwealth. Dylan decides to go to Terra Zed even though Harper is a bit skeptical about it.
We find that the world has an upcoming election and is a true preservation of the commonwealth. We also learn how the Commonwealth's govrnment functioned.
After arriving Dylan meets Admiral Telemachus Rhade who is look alike for his ancestor Geharis Rhade. Telemachus believes that his ancestor died as a heroe defending the Commonwealth, even though he knows the Niets claim that he was a spy who participated in the downfall of the Commonwealth. He asks Dylan to tell him the truth and Dylan only informs that Rhade tried to warn him.
Dylan is not happy about this apparent look alike. Espicially when Dylan discovers that Telemachus is the leader of an isolationist movement who does not want to jion the restored Commonwealth. The elections are held and Telemachus side wins.
After the elections three Magog warships show up. Dylan contacts Telemachus who accuses him of leading them to Terra Zed. Dylan later discovers that the ship were built in Terra Zed's system and believes Telemachus sent them to show the population why they should remain isolated. And that Telemachus has now led troops into the capital.
Telemachus contacts Dylan asking for a meeting. They meet on the bridge and fight insues remensienct of the battle Dylan fought with his former first officer. During the fight Telemachus questions Dylan why he led the ships to Terra Zed. Telemachus and Dylan soon realize that they have been set up by Telemachus' oppostion who wanted Telemachus discredit so that Terra Zed would jion the restored Commomwealth.
At the end Dylan is tempted to frame Telemachus but decides against it. Even though it means not getting a full crew or having a powerful world in the Commonwealth.

-- Good episode, good to see Steve Bacic back.
The flashbacks to Rhade were good as well.
Silver Surfer and Aquaman are still known, by Harper anyway.
Sarah has descendant named Brown.

Aquaman and Silver Surfer are more or less B
list superheroes from DC and Marvel respectively
so it isn't strange no-one other than Harper ever
heard of them. Now if it had been Superman and
Spiderman and none of them had ever heard of them
it would have been a bit more shocking.I mean
EVERYONE knows Supes and Spidey!:)

Where'd Terra Zed acquire the Magog ships in the
first place?

By LUIGI NOVI on Monday, November 26, 2001 - 6:15 am:

I think the Surfer has always been more popular a character than ol' Arthur, even despite Peter David's reinvigoration of him.

Besides, everyone has their favorite characters and creators. I've never been a regular Supes reader, and only briefly read Bats around the time of the first Burton film. But I read Aquaman when Peter David was on it, and Silver Surfer is a Kirby creation.

By Lolar Windrunner on Monday, November 26, 2001 - 1:45 pm:

terra Zed probably got the plans for the magog ships from Jane's enemy vessels books. Or intelligence or whatever. They probably buit a probe with a cover that would fool sensors but very little else. At least thats what I got form the discussion. I have'nt read comics in a long time but I was a batman fan as well as a lot of the one-shot or movie deals.

Perhaps Aquaman and Silver Surfer were subject of big revivals around 2253? Remember that great 4-D Aquaman movie of 2196? And how about the record breaking 52 year run of Silver Surfer & Friends on Fox in the late 22nd century?

By the way, do we have ANY idea WHEN the events in Andromeda take place in relation to our time?

By ScottN on Sunday, December 02, 2001 - 11:13 am:

Great Line:

Rommie: Do you know what I really want?
Tyr or Dylan (not sure which): An avatar unburdened by an excess of cleavage?

By Lolar Windrunner on Sunday, December 02, 2001 - 11:32 am:

It was Tyr. And I didn't think Rommie had any excess cleavage, just the right amount.

By The Male Demographic, 18 to Dead on Sunday, December 02, 2001 - 1:38 pm:

Rommie is HOT!

By Stone Cold Steven Of None on Friday, December 07, 2001 - 9:09 am:

When are we going to see what's been called "Yes-
terday's Andromeda", in which Rhade, not Captain
Hunt, is in charge of the ship? I thought this
ep would be it - thanks to yet another misleading
trailer - but it wasn't.
No one could mistake this ep for DS9's "In The Pale Moonlight", or even Voyager's "Alliances".
Zip it up, Rommie:-).
