Keith Hamilton Cobb says this is one of the strongest of Andromeda's episodes so far. It will be rife with politics and intrigue.

Starting off with "The Prince" the crew is thrown in the middle of an alien uprising and the only chance for peace lies with a teenage Prince. Who is best to guide this young monarch? Dylan or Tyr?

Answering a request for help from a ship being attacked by pirates the crew of the Andromeda find the royal family of the planet New Holland massacred. The only survivor was Eric the third in line of the thrown. Dylan and Tyr become co-regents for the young prince as they try to return him to his throne. Of course is Tyr is a manipulative as ever and Dylan is idealistic. And as normal Dylan wins over Tyr.

Not a bad episode, though I missed having a "B" plot.

I like Tyr's plan; there is no way for him to lose--if the nobles win, he is one step closer to having the _Andromeda_ (though he'd best be careful Rommie doesn't suspect his involvement in Dylan's death). If Eric takes the throne, well, then he was on Eric's side all the time.

He knows that Dylan won't kill him or kick him off the ship for plotting--that's been demonstrated before--so he's safe there, too.

Dylan was his usual ruthlessly idealistic self.

One question: Why isn't Rommie monitoring everything that happens on the Maru? Or is she and we haven't been told yet?

She probably is aware of whats going on as Dylan didn't seem too surprised by the nobles death and Tyr's reaction. What I thought was odd is tweedle dee and tweedle dum come down and open fire with these giant rail guns yet the trees behind the bad guys don't get turned to toothpicks. My cousin is in the army and they have much smaller atling guns that can reduce a small thicket to twigs in a matter of moments. Judging by the size of the railgus on the destruction duo that whole forest should have been wiped clear. Oh well just a bit too much for the effects budget to handle i guess. I loved Tyr's line.
BGN: I thought you said you were on our side.
TA: No I said I was on the winning side!
Always out for himself nice consistency.

Okay, this co-regents thing didn't make a lot of sense. Maybe if the kid had been 7 instead of 17 the idea of appointing a regent would make sense. However given that he's 17 why would the king appoint two off-worlders that he doesn't know to be co-regents?

Then we're supposed to be happy that the world has been turned into some kind of democracy, but they never really specify what kind of democracy it is.

When Tyr is talking to Prince Eric in the Maru, watch him after he says "Dylan.... is an idealist." He is leaning against a ladder, and when he pushes off to stand up, his spines press against it. Then bend, almost as if they were made of rubber.

The courtyard that Dylan, the prince, and the nobles meet in during the coronation, is the same courtyard that held the Tollan Stargate in the SG1 episode "Between Two Fires"

I love Tweedle-Dee and Tweedle-Dum. One thing though, have they always been that BIG?

I liked the music in this episode, especially at the very beginning, during the opening quote.

NANJAO: New Holland is a name that was historically applied both to Brazil and Australia.

Why does Andromeda have only 2 of these robots? Or perhaps only 2 were left working after all the battles of the last season? Or maybe Tyr sold all the rest when Dylan wasn't looking? :)
