Some times "Myths" have the uncomfortable ability
of becoming Real.:)

Great Tyr line:"When the Universe ends there will
be only three survivors:Tyr Annastazi;the cockroaches;and Dylan Hunt trying to save the
cockroaches!"

Did anyone else think that that dance number at the end was completely dumb?

By Jessica on Monday, April 29, 2002 - 12:04 pm:

I liked the dance scene, myself. It was a welcome fun moment in a series that has, lately, taken itself entirely too seriously.

It was so nice to see the whole crew again! And the cockroach line is one of the best lines ever.

Nits:

Harper starts his music up in the command center. Tyr comes in and complains about the noise. So far, it still make sense--there's no particular reason why harper couldn't be playing it over the general com system.

However, Harper then says that he can't play the music when Dylan is around. Does this mean that the only way to play anything on the Andromeda is over the entire ship? What did they do when there were 300 members? Or does Dylan go through everyone's music and insist that they only play music he likes, even in private?

Trance says that the creature is like us in that it eats to grow "only we eat food, and it eats matter." Um. Last I checked, food was matter.

Also, Becka took the words right out of my mouth when she said "We have got to get seatbelts."

I was so proud of them early on because their pilot, at least, was securely seat-belted.

Now that they have "upgraded" everyone flies around!

I liked this episode as well. It was a pretty good episode.

By Brian on Monday, May 06, 2002 - 3:20 pm:

While being chased by the creature, which was right on their tail, Beka ordered a full 180 to escape. Wouldn't that put them right down its maw? Fortunately, the creature must have teleported itself to the other side of the ship when they executed the about-face.

The final dance scene was torturous and embarrassing. Dylan & Trance swinging, Tyr & Beka slow dancing, Rommie bobbing her head up and down, and -- worst of all! -- the droids doing the bump with Harper. What a travesty.

Good episode. Is it just me, or did anyone else think that this was an updated version of "The Doomsday Machine?" That's OK, because that is one of my favorite episodes of the original Star Trek.

By Jessica on Saturday, May 11, 2002 - 11:30 pm:

I'm not sure if it was "The Doomsday Machine" so much as the space-creature-eats-ship show that every science fiction show has to have at some point.

A pretty good one, though, which is something--quite often, they're terrible.

Missed almost the first half of this, but if the cetus eats planets then shouldn't it be bigger than a planet? Wouldn't it have an incredible gravity? Shouldn't it be covered with asteroids & other space junk? Would Andromeda actually be visible from outside or would it appear to be smaller than a speck?

Rommie makes a comment about Harper suffering from oxygen deprivation. If she was worried about him why was she letting him talk so much using up his oxygen?

Why would Andromeda have enough matter to satisfy a Planet Eater??? Is Andromeda really that big?

When the explosion came it looked like Harper's leg was engulfed in flame, but it didn't seem to bother him later.

Why are the two androids different sizes?

By Electron on Sunday, September 15, 2002 - 6:34 pm:

The cetus left some sort of giant "claw marks" on the planet from previous visits (every 6xxx years). It didn't eat the poor rock at once.

By KAM on Monday, September 16, 2002 - 2:46 am:

Thanks.

So if the people of this rock know this thing comes around every now and then to nibble on their planet why not leave?

By Electron on Monday, September 16, 2002 - 9:26 am:

The civilisation on the planet wasn't yet capable to do this. They used primitive radio wave to send out a mayday saying that like every 6xxx years the legendary beast will come soon and eat a part of the planet.

By KAM on Tuesday, September 17, 2002 - 3:31 am:

So for 6,000 plus years the lazy buggers couldn't be bothered to get off their bums invent spaceships???
