Sense and Sensitivity

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Angel: Season One: Sense and Sensitivity
I love the Political Correct era. The police station that new love interest Kate works at has to go through sensitivity training. Unfortunately, the evil Wolfram and Hart sets it up, and suddenly everyone is very comfortable expressing their feelings while using active listening to defuse conflict situations, and the police station begins to break down completely.

How was Angel able to enter Mr. Sensitivities house, he wasn't invited and the guy was alive.

Maybe I didn't get some things or maybe they cut something in the version I've seen, but:

1) Angel walks into Mr Sensitivity's house, nearly kills him, and the next time we see him - Angel - he's become as crazy as all the policemen. How come? Sensitivity didn't look all that likely to teach him about his fears in that fight scene.

2) One of the policemen frees all the prisoners, whereupon they start to beat him. One of them is a fat man in a blue suit. Later, we see another policeman reading poetry to the same fat prisoner. Why is he still there? Wouldn't the prisoners leave the police station as quickly as possible?

3) What exactly did Angel do in Sensitivity's house, or what did he do after the magic wore off? I really was waiting for some comment like "By the way, I went back and broke his magic staff so he won't do any more harm" at the end.

4) By checking the times and tides, Angel found out where Little Tony had thrown his victims into the water. But is it likely that he would stay at this very place for a long period of time? Of course Angel had to find him, but that's stretching it a bit. Surely a Mafia boss has a better hideaway than the harbour.

Apart from that, I liked the episode. From the moment on, when Sensitivity was talking to the policeman about anger and how to understand human emotions, I thought it would be great to watch Angel take that class. And indeed he did.

Maybe it was just because Angel touched the staff?

Btw, where do you watch the show?

I got the impression that Angel got smacked round the head with the staff, though how this would turn him nice and soppy is anyone's guess! Also, it seemed to take a couple of sessions before the police started acting weird - though maybe Angel got thumped several times ...

Had to crack up at Angel's "You can be a rainbow, not a (air quotes) painbow"!

I also loved Cordelia's repeated, "Eww! Eww! Eww!" when Angel was hugging her and Doyle.

Electron: I watch it on German cable TV. This means that a) season two will probably take another year or so for me to see, and b) that I can only guess what the dialogue was like in the original version.

Still, like Callie, I wasn't under the impression that simply touching the staff once would trigger that kind of behaviour. Kate was still acting quite normal after having been forced to hold the staff and talk about herself, and also I can't imagine that there would be no difference in manipulating humans and vampires.

Ahh, Pro7 to... I suspected that. ;-)

Well, Little Tony didn't have a hideaway at the harbor. He was making his escape via the harbor.
