WOW Darla's back...but, initally she looked like Emma Caufield.

By MarkN on Friday, May 26, 2000 - 3:10 am:

I can only try to imagine what Cordy must've gone through with her out-of-control visions. How could she survive all that torment? And let's see more of Dennis. Um, so to speak.

Was anyone else thinking about the scene in
THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK at the end when Luke and
Darth Vader are dueling and Vader hacks off Luke's
hand when they showed the duel at the end?

With Darla back from the dead(side note:Can the
Undead be brought back from the dead once they're
killed?Or does that sound like an oxymoron to anyone else?)next season looks to be interesting!

Yes, I noticed a Star Wars similarity. In the first episode of S2 of Buffy they tried to bring the master back to life using a Revivication ritual. That was a different ritual used to the one in Angel with a low success rate.

Who is Darla? And bring back Doyle he was Ireish and well cool!

By Spornan the Celt on Sunday, June 04, 2000 - 9:22 pm:

Irish.

Darla was the one who "sired" Angelus. That is, she is the one who turned him into a vampire. She was killed in the first season of Buffy.

I'll get a summary up soon, folks. It's summer, I lack any sense of adult responsibility.

I was worried that Joss was going to go insane trying to run two programs, and quite frankly there have been some times when the seams show, but this was a great end of season episode. I'm looking forward to next season already.

I agree with the sentiment that Doyle should return. Here's an idea I picked up elsewhere to throw out: maybe Cordelia should be the new love interest? Interesting, no? I like the way the ensemble works in this episode, however, and wouldn't want to mess up a good thing.

Can someone tell me who 'Gunn' is? Apparently, he/she is going to be a cast member is season 2. If it's someone who's turned up previously in Buffy or Angel, I don't recognise them.

By Spornan on Tuesday, June 06, 2000 - 7:37 pm:

He was the leader of a Gang like group of young teens who were trying to rid Vampires of their neighberhood. He was in two other episodes this season. I believe all three of his appearances are in concurrent episodes.

By multi-yaddayadda on Wednesday, June 07, 2000 - 9:32 am:

Thanks. From the sounds of it, that episode hasn't aired in Australia yet. Or if it has, I missed it.

By Mark Morgan on Wednesday, June 07, 2000 - 5:59 pm:

MM: "Warzone." There's a plot summary in the appropriate place, but if you're trying to avoid spoilers read only the summary and nothing else in the thread.

Gunn is not so much a cast member as a recurring character.

Finally got to see this!

NANJAO. With Sanshu properly translated, that means the title is To Live & Die In LA, which was the title of an 80's movie & its much better theme song.

Was there any point to the scene with the bored rich guy? (Or were the producers really saying, 'You'd better get used to this yutz because we're bringing him back a lot next year'?)

An old nit, but... Cordy offers Angel some donuts, specifying chocolate & cream-filled, however I Will Remember You indicated that Angel can't taste.

Also, if they did have chocolate & cream-filled donuts why did Cordy only eat the plain donuts & why didn't we see any smudged chocolate on the papers she used to grab the donuts? (Chocolate icing is messy.)

They have this ancient scroll of prophecy & no one thinks to run down to the nearest Kinko's & make a copy?

The Oracles really should have seen that coming. Serves the snob Q right, being so arrogant.

Considering the length of the blade, I would expect the Oracles to have long deep cuts, if not severed body parts, instead of the short shallow cuts we see.

Why drive Cordy insane instead of just killing her?

Was there much of a point to the Gunn scene? Seemed like time-filler.

How is Gunn supposed to protect Cordy & Wesley in the hospital? Gunn's gang, heavily armed, walks up to the front desk, "Hello. What rooms are Cordy & Wesley in, please?" I think hospital staff would probably call the police when they see Gunn & his gang hanging around.

Also what about the truck with that dangerous looking piece of weaponry on it? Could you really drive that thing around LA without the police pulling you over?

When Angel is fighting with Toka, why does he seem to avoid actually using the blade in the fight until after he pops off the guy's mask?

If the scroll had started to catch fire, why did it go out when it went flying?

How did the scythe cut off Lindsey's arm? If it came down on top, his hand & the scroll would be knocked down into the brazier. Good for a clean cut, bad for the scroll.
If it came from underneath the handle would get in the way. Either bouncing off his arm, or hitting the wall.

It looked like a good portion of Lindsey's forearm was lying on the ground and yet when he's holding his stump it appears that, at most, he lost his hand at the wrist. Maybe someone with this ep on tape can double-check?

NANJAO. Lindsey had two options here. 1. Grab his hand & rush to the hospital for them to sew back on. 2. Stick his stump in the fire to cauterize the wound & stop the bleeding.

KAM,
General consensus is that the rich-guy will be bank-rolling Angel in next season. New offices, toys (weapons) etc. Just as well Angel parked his car across the street instead of in the garage before the explosion. Otherwise rich-guy would have to splash out even more money.

How did the hospital manage to do a CAT scan on Cordelia? You have to keep very VERY still in the scanner (I know - I've had one!) but Cordy was thrashing about all over the place and the doctors hadn't yet found anything to sedate her with.

By netrat on Tuesday, June 05, 2001 - 3:20 pm:

I've just seen the first few minutes of this week's show and I already hate, hate, hate Cordelia! She's so very S-T-U-P-I-D!!!! Please think up some loooooong vacation for her and then get Faith or Kate back! (I mean, get Kate back as someone who does something, as opposed to just pop up and insult Angel.)

If David thinks he's the Dungeon Master, why does he wear a violet cape? No one would guard a dungeon dressed like that. Or is that some kind of Dungeons&Dragons thing?

How S-T-U-P-I-D can even Cordy get? Wesley tells Angel that he's going to die and all she can think about is more money?

Is W&H the only lawyer in L. A., or why are their personnel transactions such a big deal to put in the papers? And is it very common in California to write about people's earnings in the paper as well?

W&H are summoning a demon ON THEIR FRONT LAWN? I guess you can do a lot of things in L. A. without anyone noticing, but doesn't that sound a tad risky?

I don't know about police ranks, but if Kate is able to give these two policemen orders, then maybe they should shut up when she's approaching.

Why does Wesley worry so much about the fact that Angel's going to die? He can't die because he's dead. If he's going to die he'll have to become a living human first, then he'll die, and then he'll be pretty much where he's now! (Now I've seen the end of the ep, and they've finally realized that Shanshu has two meanings. But even if it hadn't, this would be pretty obvious.)

The Oracles don't even know how the demon got into their temple? What kind of all-seeing oracle is that? Probably Angel is right about not having to ask the oracles!
Also, the lines the demon said about the new future coming sounded a lot like they were taken out of the Bible.

I can accept the fact that no one sees the demon - but his boots are making a lot of noise and no one's hearing him as well? If no one's able to hear him then the noise shouldn't be, well, heard.

That's a pretty lousy lock for a weapon case. Not that it's likely that anyone would come down there at all - but if Angel feels that he should lock the case, why doesn't he do it properly?

It's getting rather easy for Angel to find his foes - just follow W&H to wherever they happen to go. It's always going to be the right place.

Actually, vampires do NOT live. So isn't the ritual chant kind of incorrect?

Why did W&H summon the demon in the first place? They already had the scroll and obviously Lindsey is qualified to say the words.

So Cordy knows now "how the world is"? Has it never occured to her before that there were people who suffered?

Big question for Season 2: Will Lindsey have a chainsaw attached from now on?
