It has been reported on www.buffyguide.com that she will probably not be back next year do to a major disagreement with the Mutant Enemy people. I think this is a loss, who is going to be the vision person now?
According to TheWB.com>>News>>2002-2003 Schedule>>Angel (the one in the left sidebar under Sundays) -
Charisma Carpenter will be returning as Cordelia Chase. (I couldn't link directly to the page because theWB.com uses those idiotic numbers and commas).
So, do you trust the official site (I'm pretty sure it's the official site), or do you trust a fansite (again, I'm pretty sure buffyguide.com is a fansite)?
Actually they quoted a website called Slayer news so I don't know, with that ending it makes it looks like she is gone but technically she is still under contract through season 6. Most of the info on the buffyguide site is good and I ussually trust it when it is linked to something like Slayer news. But occasionally they do get things wrong. I guess we won't know until the season starts.
I was wondering that if she stays on then Cordy'll probably wanna come back to help out more, probably in defiance of TPTB, and do it anyway (perhaps having a lot more power than was meant to be given to her?), or some such. But yes, we'll just have to see how it goes. I can only wonder how Whedon's gonna shuffle writing Buffy, Angel and Firefly all at once, but I suppose he'll let others do some of the work, too.
From what I understand he did very little of the writng this year, that is why alot of fans complained this year. Of course I was happy with Angel this season.
So was I. I've liked it since Season 1 and think it's getting better.
When Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) did not appear in three consecutive episodes of Angel leading into the six week hiatus in March and April 2002, I thought then that something behind-the-scenes was amiss. However, I had no idea what it was. When Cordelia returned from her getaway with Groo with a short haircut and a scarf covering much of it, I wondered if Charisma Carpenter had been seriously ill. Alternately, I wondered if "rehab" was any part of the explanation for Cordelia's non-appearance in those episodes. Whatever it was, it would be a shame for "Angel" to lose Charisma Carpenter as Cordelia, especially if it's just because there's some sort of rift between Charisma Carpenter and the show's producers.
The latest word is she will be back on the show next season, but there apparently was some tension, Apparently the source I quoted came from their rumor section. I hope she will be back for the next 2 seasons atleast.
