Great Cordie line at the end after Angel describes how nice and peaceful the place is where she's at:"What are you defiecent?Get Me
Out Of Here!"

Good episode. The new "electro lady" character looks interesting. She sort of reminds me of Rogue from the X-Men (only with respect to her powers).

When Wesley spoke with Angel in the tunnel, did anyone else notice that Wesley's voice sounded deeper and a lot more forceful than it did even in the previous episode? There was no hint of Wesley's former slight prissiness.

One thing I'm wondering about Angel's beating heart is, was that just a temporary thing, is it permanent, or is it permanent unless "electro lady" zaps Angel again?

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Monday, October 14, 2002 - 1:24 am:

Several people noticed that Wesley's accent had shifted dramatically. Two popular theories: One, Justine's cut got his voice box and changed him permanently. Two, Alexis Denisof's accent is fake in the first place, and having to speak over the ambient noise made it hard for him to keep it under control.

Electro Lady didn't wear a mask to hide her identity when breaking in???

Angel & co. didn't wear gloves or masks when breaking in???

If I'm not mistaken didn't the alarms come on before Angel & Gunn lifted the bars. Then wouldn't Fred & Angel have to carry Gunn out of the building, past whatever security & cops may have been alerted by the alarms, then get to a hospital. Must not have been that exciting because they didn't even bother showing it to us.

When Electro Lady was going after the buyer I wondered if she was going to say Storm's line (that Joss wrote) from X-Men about toads & lightning. ;-)

I thought Wesley's voice sounded funny because it had to be re-dubbed by Alexis. I mean it was pretty loud down there. Also, I hope we see a lot more of Wesley's new gang. I think that would make a good episode.

Amy Acker sure put on a good dramatic performance, more than I'd've expected from her.

I also liked Cordy's last two episode ending sayings but I hope we won't see several more like this cuz it'll get too tiresome too quickly. I think two's enough.

I wanted to smack Fred in this episode. What was with the whole, "You left me" bit? Gunn was dead for all of ten seconds, hardly enough time for Fred to truly feel the pangs of loneliness and regret. She just came off as incredibly selfish and melodramatic, IMHO.

Re: Wesley's voice

In that tunnel scene, wouldn't the ambient machinery sounds have been added after filming (in post-production)?

Re: "Electro Lady"

I re-watched the beginning of the episode, and found that she was called "Gwen" as a child (daughter of Mr. and Mrs. "Raiden" or "Rayden").

Thanks, I couldn't remember her name.

I did wonder about the Raydon name though. Wasn't that the name of a god in Mortal Combat?

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Wednesday, October 16, 2002 - 9:06 am:

Raiden is a Japanese god of thunder and lightning. As such, it's yet another very bad meta-reference like Cassie in this week's Buffy.

By Ryan Whitney on Wednesday, October 16, 2002 - 4:33 pm:

Raiden is a character in the Mortal Kombat video game series. In the game, the character Raiden is a god, and his special attacks include the ability to attack opponents with lightning streams from his hands.

By KAM on Thursday, October 17, 2002 - 5:45 am:

Also the Mortal Kombat TV show & I believe at least one of the movies.

I wonder if there's going to be a revelation that in the Buffyverse a person's name has some mystical connection? (Wouldn't make the meta-references less annoying, but it would be an anti-nit.)

By Matt Pesti on Thursday, October 31, 2002 - 6:33 pm:

Actually, Raiden is from the Arcade version and Rayden is from the console version, as someone else held the rights to Raiden. Although, we shouldn't smack down classical allusion.
