Habeus Corpus

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Angel: Season Four: Habeus Corpus

By Keith Alan Morgan (Kmorgan) on Thursday, January 16, 2003 - 5:39 am:

No real nits, but I don't want Mark to think I've abandoned the board. ;-)

So is Gavin gone? Yeah, he's now a zombie, but I thought he tended to liven up the Wolfram & Hart stuff. Although it looks like the LA branch of Wolfram & Hart has closed so he wasn't really needed anymore. Which is just as well. W&H never really lived up to their status as Big Bad. Too often they simply became an easy way to learn information about what Angel & company had to fight.

If anyone was interested there's a gal who posts her thoughts about Buffy & Angel episodes at the online ezine Sequential Tart in the Buffy Bites column. I think she has some interesting ideas. She'll probably post her thoughts about this episode in the next issue which should be up the first week in February. For thoughts on previous episodes you can go through the archives. I believe the last two Angel episodes were commented on in the December issue.

Well It was nice to see the Beast argeeing with Shakespeare

Well, it's about time new episodes of "Angel" got back on the air! Good episode. Not much else I want to say.

R.I.P. Gavin

Man, throughout the second half of this episode, I couldn't stop thinking, "Hmmm, zombies in an office building. This is resident evilish."

By KAM on Friday, January 17, 2003 - 5:56 am:

"Zombies in an office building." Why does that sound so Dilbertish?

By Josh M on Friday, January 31, 2003 - 11:13 pm:

Loved Gavin's last line. "Uh, hi."

And yes, Resident Evil was exactly what I was thinking while watching this episode. As soon as they zoomed in on Gavin's dead face I knew his eyes were going to pop open. It was just like the movie.

They brought up a good question, did the Beast reanimate the dead or was it the W&H securiy measure (sorry, I haven't seen the two most recent eps yet so I don't know if this question has been answered yet.)

Is it true that Alyson Hannigan's going to make an appearance on this show later on?

By Art Vandelay on Friday, March 14, 2003 - 6:48 am:

Why does Lilah 'swear to God' in this ep?

Why bother establishing that the beast has cloven feet if, in every long shot, he's plainly got human-shaped feet?

If Angel could smell Connor in the conference room, why couldn't he track his scent? (or maybe he was and that's why he found him and not the others)

Why does Lilah 'swear to God' in this ep? - Art Vandalay

Most people who "swear to God" do not mean to suggest the literal interpretation of the phrase. Same with "God d*** it," "Drop dead," and "F*** me."

By Art Vandelay on Sunday, March 16, 2003 - 4:56 am:

Yeah, I know. However, Lilah isn't most people; she works for an organisation who wants to start an apocalypse. It just seems odd coming from her.

By KAM on Sunday, March 16, 2003 - 5:07 am:

But she never specified which god she was swearing to, now did she?

I have to say I like the title of this ep. Habeus Corpus is a legal term and IIRC means "have his corpse". Just sooooo appropriate.

By Matthew Patterson (Mpatterson) on Sunday, March 16, 2003 - 11:44 am:

It means "produce the body," actually.

By Padawan on Sunday, July 20, 2008 - 2:15 am:

I believe the actual title for the episode is "Habeas Corpses".
