Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Angel: Season Five: Unleashed

Enterprise's John Billingsley is in this episode, playing--well, take a guess. Go ahead, guess! That's right, he plays a doctor who examines the human body of the werewolf Angel kills. And later, when he sings "Jesse's Girl" for Lorne, well, you've just got to see it to believe it. :)

I also liked at the end of Act One where the female victim starts to turn into a werewolf for the first time while looking at her hand elongate into claws with her mouth wide open, showing fangs, cuz it's very reminiscent of, and no doubt inspired by, An American Werewolf In London.

Last day spoiler space gobbledygook....... neener neener neener :-p ;-)

Did anyone think to contact Oz and ask him about his experiences as a werewolf?

So why doesn't eating the flesh of a werewolf infect the person eating it?

How come werewolves never seem to look alike? The werewolves in this one seemed larger and a lot stronger than Oz (and what's her name, Veruca?) were in Season 3 and 4 of Buffy. Larger anyway, and closer to the werewolf's first appearanc on Buffy.

I liked seeing John Billingsley. I saw his name in the credits and I'm thinking "woohoo! Phlox!!". Interesting accent he had.

I liked the fact that Wesley mentioned underground military organizations. Continuity.

So, the first guy that was bit at the party, did he die? I guess so since no one mentioned him becoming a werewolf.

Is W&H going to come by every month and make sure Nina's okay every month? Is that what they implied at the end?

and who's that mail guy?

Next Week: Spike takes center stage. Here's hoping it's good.

They call ahead to find out what the other werewolves will be wearing. ;-)

Billingsly's character did mention that this type of werewolf had never been seen before in North America. Maybe they were created by different types of demons?

Billingsely's character makes it quite clear that the werewolf that bit the girl was different from the American species and was quite rare as it was
bipedal.
As far as Oz goes, yes it would have been nice if someone had thought of contacting him but no-one
probably knew where he went after he left Sunnydale for good.
I wonder though how the girl werewolf is going to be able to explain why she has to leave the house once a month to spend three nights at a law firm.
What was really horryifing is the fact that the
cult that the doctor belonged to were into eating
live werewolf as if they had it killed the werewolf would revert back to being human.

If I was going to go to the trouble of eating a werewolf when it's transformed, I'd figure out some method of keeping it in such a state even when dead just to save myself the trouble.

Despite Fred's claim that Angel is an equal-opportunities rescuer, he displays a pretty glaring double standard in this episode. When the werewolf is a cute, young, nicely-shaped girl he does "everything he can" to keep her safe. When the werewolf is an older not-all-that-attractive guy he stabs him dead (despite their supply of tranquiliser darts) or leaves him to be eaten alive.
