Reception was very, very bad at the end so I thought she got in bed with the scientist guy who works for Fred.

Eve's explanation, which was probably a lie, was that the universe was thrown out of whack because there were two vampire champions with souls, but only one of them could Sanshu. The question someone SHOULD have asked is "Why would it matter?" It really shouldn't matter to the universe if there were 2 or 47 vampire champions with souls as only one will Sanshu. Now if there were NO vampire champions with souls, then I can see the universe being thrown out of whack.

For all the commercials focusing on Drusila I was disappointed by how little she was in the ep. Heck, her presence in the show was about the same as the Cup Of Sorrow, both were objects being fought over by Angel & Spike. At the end when Eve is talking to the offscreen person, I wondered if maybe Eve was working with Dru.

I thought this was a great episode (you rarely get to see vampires really cut loose with the supernatural physical abilities), but I have to admit that the foreshadowing reminds me vaguely of the premise of the anime series/movie 'X.'

In X, the world is about to come to an end, essentially. Big apocalyptic battle brewing, you know the sort. There's a guy named Kamui who's supposed to join either the Dragons of Heaven (good guys) or the Dragons of Earth (bad guys). Thing is, there's a seer who sees 2 futures at once, somehow. She's never wrong, but she simultaneously sees a future where Kamui (whose name simultaneously means 'one who acts with the power of God' and 'one who hunts those who act with the power of God') joins the DoH and one where he joins the DoE. Then she gets a vision that shows two Kamuis fighting over Tokyo. Well, once Kamui makes his decision to join one side, his best friend develops special powers like his and winds up forced into joining the other side at the same time. I get the feeling that Spike or Angel is probably going to turn to the forces of darkness and they'll have to duke it out at the end. Since the 'Angel turning evil' thing has been done to death, it'll probably be Spike.

One thing to keep in mind is that I don't think we've seen a full, 'proper' translation of the prophecy. The original manuscript probably specifies that there can only be one vampire with a soul in existence when it comes to pass.

If the rivalry between Spike and Angel started so long ago, why was Spike so happy to see Angel in 'School Hard'?

Angel probably owed Spike money.

It's not that they don't value each other, it's just that they ... don't get along.

They are completely different types, personality-wise, but apart from that they've got a lot in common. And they're the closest each of them has to a worthy sparring partner. When we met Spike in "School Hard", it was clear that he didn't want other vamps' approval (certainly not the Annoying One's), but he does seem to want to impress Angel; whereas Angel usually brushes off criticism but Spike still hits him where it hurts.
