Lisa Montgomery

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Legal Musings: Specific Lawsuits & Legal Cases: Lisa Montgomery
By Adam Bomb on Sunday, December 26, 2004 - 2:38 pm:

I assume you've heard about this case - Lisa Montgomery is accused of setting up and murdering 23 year old Bobbie Jo Stinnett and actually cutting out her fetus and passing it off as her own child. Ms. Montgomery seemed to be completely obsessed with having more children, even though she had a tubal ligation. This woman fooled even her current hisband (who, IMHO, is the biggest dimwit in the galaxy.) More on the case here.
Some questions:
Are some women so unfulfilled, unless they have a lot of children (even if they can't afford them)?
Will Katie Couric of The Today Show come to Ms. Patterson's defense, and maybe even raise money for her legal defense, the same way she did for Andrea Yates (the Texas woman who drowned all her five children?)

By Adam Bomb on Friday, October 14, 2005 - 8:13 am:

It's happened again. Another pregnant woman was assaulted by a woman and had her unborn baby ripped from her. But, the victim survived this time. More here. The assailant also duped her dim bulb boyfriend into believing she was pregnant.

By Adam Bomb on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 - 8:22 am:

Lisa Montgomery was found guilty yesterday, and could face the death penalty. Her defense was that she suffered from something called "pseudocyesis", basically a false pregnancy. (There's a b.s. defense for almost anything, isn't there?) Let's hope the noose, needle, or whatever, isn't too long in coming for Ms. Montgomery. More here and here.

And here we are, about a screen a French horror film this coming Thursday, about a pregnant woman fleeing from a crazed woman who wants the baby in her womb. If this were in a movie, or something, no one would buy the timing as believable! :-)

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Saturday, October 27, 2007 - 8:52 pm:

Obviously someone thought releasing this movie would be a good idea to make money seeing how the related news story is a hot item right now.

By LUIGI NOVI (Lnovi) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 12:52 am:

But it's not being released now. We're only screening it for market research purposes. It currently has no U.S. release date.

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 4:34 am:

Ah! I misunderstood. Sorry.

By LUIGI NOVI (Lnovi) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 11:47 am:

Moreover, the film is French. I doubt this case made the news in France.

Your mind was no doubt still realing from having your arms around Marina. :-)

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Sunday, October 28, 2007 - 12:50 pm:

Guilty as charged, Luigi.

Marina was the first non-relative to put her arm around me like that. (and vice-versa)

By Adam Bomb on Monday, October 29, 2007 - 6:37 am:

I put my arm around Marta Kristen. Does that count?
By the way, the jury recommended the death penalty for Lisa Montgomery. Since the judges usually go along with the jury verdict, and since appeals can drag this stuff out almost forever, I only hope I live long enough to see her end. More on that here.

Lisa Montgomery was executed today, the first woman federal inmate executed in the U.S. in 67 years. More on that from the BBC here.

Given your above posts, I assume this is about the only thing you agree with President Trump on?

By Judi Jeffreys, Granada in NorthWest (Jjeffreys_mod) on Thursday, January 14, 2021 - 2:38 am:

Given how reluctant people still are to execute a woman, i thought she'd get a stay or commutation.

Probably. I've been pro death penalty for a long time, ages before the Orange Blunder assumed the presidency. Especially when it comes to crimes as heinous as Ms. Montgomery's was. If I agreed with Trump in that regard, it's a coincidence.
