Six Pitcairn Islanders, including mayor Steve Christian and his son Randy, are appealing their convictions on charges of statutory rape. They do not deny having sex with the underage girls, which they claim is an island tradition ever since their ancestors, the Bounty mutineers first brought girls from Tahiti. Instead, they claim that the British law does not apply to them.

Since Pitcairn Island is still under British control, that means British law does apply there.
