The Final Verdict

The Final Verdict

Michael takes KITT to help out one of his old friends, Cheryl Burns. Cheryl has been framed for the murder of her boss, and is awaiting sentencing at the local prison. Cheryl does have an alibi, though: she met with a man named Marty at a bar the night of the murder. Michael heads to the bar and, finding no help, has KITT trace a phone call to an apartment hundreds of miles away. Marty is actually an employee who has been working for Falcon Enterprises and Al Farland, who runs a smuggling ring and is using Marty to make it look legit. To make matters worse, two nosy cops are onto Marty and later suspect Michael of being involved when Michael arrives and starts pressing on Marty. When Michael finally gets to Marty, he finds that Marty is a coward who has had no choice but to help Farland. Michael eventually convinces Marty that they have to break into the Falcon building and steal the bookeeping files. They succeed, and Michael convinces the cops they have enough evidence to bust open the whole operation. In the meantime, Michael takes Marty to help with Cheryl's case through his testimony. As the episode ends, the trio celebrates Cheryl's release and Marty's new career choice - trying his luck at the track.

THOUGHTS:
-A nice show, if a bit slow.

-Fun moments:
-The usual great banter between Michael, Devon and Bonnie
-Michael constantly sneaking peeks at the club girls
-Marty getting stuck on the fence
-Michael taking Marty "out of the environment"
-KITT impersonating the police
-The chase through the city
-Butch and the whole arm-wrestling thing
-Both Marty and Butch thinking Michael is pulling a ventriloquist act when he talks to KITT (either in person or on the watch)

--New feature on KITT:
+Though the "electical jamming device" was introduced in the last episode, this is the first to refer to it as a "microxave jammer." MicroJam, in simpler terms.
+Composite drawing system

FAVORITE QUOTE:
"You still don't seem to understand. I'm a coward!"
-Marty to Michael, after Michael says they have to go back for the files

NITS:
-Why does KITT always have to turn around to enter the "home office"?

-How does KITT do such an accurate drawing of Marty? Cheryl only gave Michael some basic details.

-When KITT comes to the rescue in the warehouse, as KITT stops in front of Farland's forklift, KITT's right turn signal is on for some reason.

-Michael somehow ejects sideways to get to the balcony stairs outside Marty's apartment. Also, Michael doesn't have to set a certain poundage pressure ("Knight of the Phoenix, Part 2").

-Michael sets KITT on auto to put Marty's seatbelt on, but when Michael resumes normal cruise, there is no sound when he presses the button.

-Right after Lt. Dickerson tells Michael to head for Highland Road, the audio cuts out for some reason, like an extra line was cut.

-The bottom of KITT is flat during the first turbo boost. Also, the shot of KITT hitting the ground right after is terrible! It looks like the car is about to break apart!

-For some reason, Michael spins KITT around twice during the chase.

-The end sequence is missing the "One man can make a difference, Michael..." quote.
