A Plush Ride

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Knight Rider: Season 1: A Plush Ride
A Plush Ride

A group of third-world countries are expected to convene in a summitt to approve a peace treaty. The problem is that one member of the security team may be an assassin, and Michael has to find out which one. Michael heads to the Victory Academy to train with the security personnell, and during the last day, takes part in a simulated exercise in the forest. One of the security people tries to kill him with real bullets, but is stopped by another member. Satisfied that he's found the killer, Michael starts out, but decides to turn back. The assassin could have killed him earlier without implicating himself, so why try to kill Michael during the simulation? Michael's hunch is right, and he's captured when he comes back. The "dead" assassin is alive, and in fact the whole team is in on the assassination scheme. After unsuccessfully trying to kill Michael by rolling KITT down a hill, the team heads for the summitt, but Michael and KITT soon give chase. Michael and KITT stop the assassins before they complete their task.

THOUGHTS:
-Not the greatest of plots, but still a nice episode.

-Fun as the episode ends, with "Devvy" singing in the bar!

-Star Trek actor watch: William Lucking (as Redmond) played Kira's Bajoran resistance friend Mobra on DS9.

FAVORITE QUOTE:
(Devon is in the bar wearing a cowboy hat)
Michael: "Devon, you look ridiculous."
Devon: "Really? I thought I looked like Gary Cooper!"

NITS:
-Early in the episode, there is the sound of KITT speeding up but the indicator still reads "50mph." Also, KITT's voice indicator console is dark, then suddenly the "normal cruise" light comes on.

-At one point, KITT is set to manual but the light says "pursuit" a few shots later.

-After the assassination attempt, Michael takes KITT and leaves the academy. In the following conversation with KITT, KITT's indicator console is dark, then suddenly the "normal cruise" light comes on, then it's dark again, then the "normal cruise" light is on again!

-How does KITT use turbo boost to stop? I thought it was only for a burst of speed, or to jump. If KITT has normal forward rockets, KITT should also have retro rockets, right?

-The little icons on KITT's indicator are WAY off during the chase at the end.

-How does Michael get KITT to flip the cars over during the chase?

-While Michael chases Margo, KITT's left screen has a picture from inside Margo's car. How does KITT do that?

-The end sequence is missing the "One man can make a difference, Michael..." quote.
