White Bird

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Knight Rider: Season 1: White Bird
White Bird

When an attorney's assistant is told to deliver an briefcase to an important client, she is instead picked up by government agents. stepahnie Mason was only doing what her employer, Gilbert Cole, told her to do - but the briefcase was actually filled with counterfeit money, to be delivered to sleazy businessman Anthony Soley. The government agents give Mason a choice - either testify against Cole in front of a grand jury, or be brought up herself on charges of conspiracy. When Michael learns about Mason's troubles, he immediately offers his help. Before Michael became Michael Knight, he was Michael Long, and was engaged to be married to Mason. Now as Knight, he can't tell her who he really is, but he can protect her. After 2 men break into her apartment, Mason agrees to go with Michael to a Foundation retreat in the mountains. Even there, they aren't safe - Mason is shot, and Michael blames himself. Even more bad news comes when Devon tells Michael Mason had a criminal record - but the man who arrested Mason twice is the same man who shot her now. On a hunch, Mason calls Cole and tells her where she is. Soley sends his goons to take Mason out, but Michael and KITT protect her and catch Cole and Soley before they skip town. Stevie is safe, but she has to form a new life. Michael wonders if she knew he was Michael Long, and he finds out the truth in KITT's glove compartment - a necklace Long gave to "Stevie" when he was in love with her.

THOUGHTS:
-Nice episode. I'm glad they used the "new identity" angle to apply to Stephanie as well, it brought a kind of closure to the episode. Michael has his new life, and now Stephanie has one too.

-Not a lot of fun in this episode since it was mostly drama, but still some cute moments when Devon rummages around in the retreat after it was shot up.

-This is the first episode where the turbo boost sound effect repeats during every new camera angle.

-The song used in this episode is "White Bird" by RoseBygrave.

New features on KITT:
+In the last episode, Michael had to hook KITT up to a device to scan someone's vitals. In this episode, KITT does it automatically.
+I can't remember for sure, but I believe this is the first episode where KITT can patch information to the FLAG computers from outside.

FAVORITE QUOTE:
"A...mutual friend gave this to her a long time ago. She just wanted me to remember him."
-Michael, about the necklace

NITS:
-I've forgotten to mention this in previous shows, but Stephanie forgets to put a seatbelt on in KITT.

-Stephanie looks pretty good at the middle of the episode for a woman who was just shot!

-You can see the black nodules on KITT used to simulate bullet richchets when the two goons fire on KITT.

-KITT is flat on the bottom during the sedond turbo boost.
