Brother's Keeper

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Knight Rider: Season 2: Brother's Keeper
Brother's Keeper

Philip Hunt has the Foundation break a prisoner out of prison (the prisoner previously refused to be released on parole). The prisoner's name is Peter McCord, and he's broken out because an informant has contacted the police and told them he will detonate a bomb if McCord is not delivered to a location. McCord's delivery is botched when he escapes, though, and returns to hide out at FLAG headquarters. McCord married a woman who was the mistress of a mob boss named Eric Fenton, and Fenton killed her and framed McCord for the murder. Michael rescues McCord's daughter from a Fenton-organized kidnapping, but Lisa McCord doesn't want anything to do with her father (she believes he killed her mother). Michael learns that the bomb is located in a parking lot where McCord's house used to be, back when he was married. Michael and KITT take the bomb to an unpopulated area, where it detonates without harming anyone. Hunt calls off the charges against McCord, and Peter McCord makes finally makes peace with his daughter.

THOUGHTS:
-Nice episode, flows well.

New features on KITT:
+Bomb detector (can't see through steel though)
+Pops open another car's trunk

FAVORITE QUOTE:
"I've spent so much time trying to forget, it's hard trying to start remembering."
-Lisa McCord

NITS:
-KITT sparks on exit from the FLAG semi.

-One shot of KITT from the inside is from an old episode (KITT's voicemod is blank red, where now it's three bars).

-The close-up of KITT's voicemod early on shows that the "pursuit" display is colored purple. Throughout the rest of the episode, it's white.

-KITT is flat on the bottom during all turbo boosts.

-Both Michael and Devon accidentally call Fenton "Penton."

-McCord tells Lisa he wants 30 seconds alone with her, then says "just one minute."

-When Michael goes to Fenton's trailer, he takes out two guys. The second guy has plenty of time to shoot Michael after he gets back up, but of course he doesn't.

-The bomb blast was big, but I would have thought it to be bigger, given April's description of it at the beginning of the show.

-Why does DEVON drive the McCord's to the airport?
By Brian Kelly on Saturday, February 15, 2003 - 8:28 am:

My dad caught this when the episode originally aired: At the end, Michael and KITT have just transported a bomb to the middle of nowhere and dropped it where it can't hurt anyone and it's about to go off. So, what does Michael do before he gets back into KITT? He closes the trunk! There's a bomb behind him that's about to go off and he takes time to close the trunk.

While we're on the subject, can't KITT close his own trunk?

I would have to agree with Brian Kelly on the
trunk closing part. After all they had what less
than 8 seconds between the time they got back to KITT to the time the bomb exploded?

Lisa indicated that her parents both died when
she was 4(as we know this was an outright lie
since her mother was killed when she was 7 and
her father sent to prison for the murder)and was
raised by an aunt and uncle(or implies).Since Fenton was McCord's half-brother could he have been the one who raised Lisa,or was there another
unnamed aunt or uncle that did the raising?
If it was Fenton who raised Lisa that would help to explain her hostility toward her father.

Nit: While KITT is traveling up the parking lot, they pass the Cadillac on the second floor - note the creme Lincoln Mark III next to it, which is in the foreground of the shot.
