Ring of Fire

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Knight Rider: Season 2: Ring of Fire
Ring of Fire

The Foundation recieves a tape from Leila Callan. Leila testified against her husband, Craig Callan, after he went mad when another man ogled Leila. Now Craig has escaped from a prison detail and is after Leila. Michael heads to the deep south to search for Leila, but he only finds trouble. Craig's father is looking out for him as well, and he warns Michael to stay away. When Michael returns to town, a priest approaches him - the same man who sent Leila's tape recording. Craig shoots the priest and Michael gives chase, only to crash KITT into a swampy bog. Michael gets out and calls for help, but is attacked by dogs instead. Luckily though, the dogs belong to Leila. Eventually, KITT is taken out of the muck and Leila agrees to go with Michael, but Craig returns with a group of poachers on his side. When Michael stops to repair some of KITT's systems, Leila is kidnapped by Craig, who intends to burn Leila in a ring of fire because she tossed her wedding ring away after testifying against him. Michael and KITT arrive just in time to save Leila, and Craig is stopped once and for all. As the episode ends, Leil decides to stay in Cajun country...after all, it is all she knows.

THOUGHTS:
-Okay episode, could have been more exciting.

-Fun stuff with the usual dogs/KITT stuff.

New features on KITT:
+Pyroclastic lamination (heat-resistant coating, up to 600-degrees).
+Voice analysis (KITT could tell that Leila was 18, scared, etc).

-Star Trek Actor Watch: George Murdock (as Judge Oliver Callan) played Admiral Hansen in "The Best of Both Worlds" (TNG).

FAVORITE QUOTE:
"So much for southern hospitality..."
-KITT, as Michael is "arrested" at the beginning of the episode.

NITS:
-KITT's passenger window is open when KITT falls into the bog (otherwise the shot of Michael inside would have been covered with mud).

-KITT starts out tires-into the bog, but then Michael climbs out and the tires are sticking out.

-KITT is flat during the turbo boost out of the fire.

-Quite a coincidence KITT just got this coating and needed it to turbo boost through a fire.
