As Michael heads to the Foundation's annual Christmas banquet, a robbery takes place near a bank. Other than the money stolen from an armored car, a gold watch is stolen as well, but the watch is stolen again (from the thieves) by a gypsy kid named Tino. The police don't have the manpower to protect Tino from the thieves, so Michael acts on advice from Tino's sister Marta and takes Tino to his uncle's gypsy caravan. Unfortunately, both MArta's boyfriend and Tino's uncle have been paid off by the thieves beforehand, and they kidnap Tino. Finding Marta's shop empty on the way out of town, Michael heads back to the caravan. He eventually picks Marta up (her car broke down on the way to the caravan) on the way there. Michael and a woman who saw the deal between the thieves and Tino's uncle implicate Tino's uncle as the bribe-taker, and Michael races to find Tino. Tino hotwired his kidnappers' car and took it to a cornfield when he ran out of gas, and he's now on foot. Using KITT as a shield against a dangerous tractor, Michael and Tino work together and take the thieves out once and for all. As the episode ends, Tino moves in with his sister to start a new life.
THOUGHTS: -Decent episode.
-Some nice fun with the running joke about the Argyle socks (Michael tells KITT he hated getting them as a kid but now April has gotten a set for Devon since one of his relatives is from that area).
FAVORITE QUOTE: "How about a new set of retreads and some mud flaps?" -Michael to KITT, about a possible Christmas present for the car.
NITS: -Michael drives through a stop sign at the beginning of the show for no reason.
-Also at the beginning of the episode, Devon calls and Michael has to press buttons on KITT to bring the image up, but in previous episodes KITT did it automatically.
-When the thieves chase KITT after Michael picks Tino up, there's one shot where the thieves' car makes a sharp turn and one of it's hubcaps flys off. Also, the rest of the episode shows the hubcap is still on.
-At one point Tino presses KITT's auto-roof button but both roofs swing open.
-When taking Tino to his sister's shop, KITT's scanner is not on but the "whoo-whoo" sound effect is still present.
-When KITT auto drives after Michael is attacked in Tino's shack, you can see a big black bulge behind KITT's driver seat.
-Tino comments on KITT's analyzer, which is already pulled out for no reason. In previous episodes the analyzer was always pushed in until needed.
-One of the shots of KITT driving when Michael takes Tino to his uncle's caravan is from "Knight of the Phoenix." It's the desert shot with the car fading into the distance.
-Most of the night shots during that sequence are from previous shows as well.
-When Tino steals the thieves' car and puts it into reverse, it makes the same sounds as KITT.
-Somehow KITT gets shots of Tino and the tractor from different angles away than the car is facing.
-At the end of the episode it looks like Tino and Michael only took out two of the three bad guys.
