Knight in Disgrace

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Knight Rider: Season 3: Knight in Disgrace
Knight in Disgrace

While in New Orleans, Michael tracks down a man named Willis, who is working illegally for Boyd Lesalle. KITT scans a briefcase full of heroine, so Michael decides to jump Willis. After a short tussle, the police stop both men, but Michael is framed when the police find heroine in his jacket. The police also find a mysterious key on the ground. Later, Devon delivers the news to Michael: he's been suspended by the Foundation. Angered, Michael leaves (without even KITT, who is the property of the Foundation). Michael asks around in some bars for Lesalle and is slipped a drug in his drink by a lady called "Jane," whose actual name is Linda. Michael is in Lesalle's mansion, and Lesalle shows Michael that by manipulating some surveillance equipment to spy on the Foundation, he has further ruined Michael's reputation. Lesalle reminds Michael that since his record is now tarnished, he can't get work - but Lesalle offers him a job. First, Michael must steal KITT directly from the Foundation, which he does. Michael gets a secret meeting with Linda, who reveals that she's only working with Lesalle because he has her daughter and will hurt her if Linda doesn't obey him. The next day, Michael has another task: get back the key Willis dropped, called the "Borfellows Key." Michael heads to Foundation headquarters and gets the key, but must shoot Devon in the process. The next day, Michael heads off in KITT, and with Lesalle overriding KITT's voice modulator, learns of his final task: to use the stolen key to open a locker in a chemical testing lab. The canister inside contains a biological weapon with which Lesalle could kill thousands. Once Michael gets into the lab, however, he meets with Devon! It turns out that Michael has been working with Devon and the Foundation from the start, just so he could infiltrate Lesalle's organization ans take him down. Michael now delivers the canister in exchange for Linda, but has KITT microjam the escaping helicopter to stop Lesalle before he gets away. As the episode ends Linda and her daughter are reunited.

THOUGHTS:
-Very good episode. David Hasselhoff plays a "turned" Michael very smoothly, almost making it believeable.

-Fun stuff with KITT and the aligator.

-And of course with that smarmy federal angent, Charles "Chuck" Wallyburton as a possible replacement for Michael (love when he ejects himself from KITT!).

FAVORITE QUOTE:
"Given the choice, I prefer aligators."
-KITT at the end, about Chuck.

NITS:
-KITT is flat on the turbo boost over the hedge in Lesalle's estate.

-Also, it looks like KITT starts out with one certain angle and then the camera shot switches and suddenly KITT is landing at a different angle.
