Custom Made Killer

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Knight Rider: Season 3: Custom Made Killer
Custom Made Killer

Vlud, a professional assassin, chases a man who is involved with the garment-selling industry and kills him using a car modified with nitrous oxide and a battering-ram bumper. Devon tells Michael to investigate, since several people involved with the fashion industry have been killed in the past few months. Michael investigates first by visiting Tom O'Malley, a sports fashion seller, who ends up getting killed by Vlud. Michael soon gives chase, but Vlud loses Michael by putting his car through a car wash, which strips off it's "false" layer of paint. Vlud is working for a man named D.G. Grebbs, who manipulates the local fashion sellers via contracts on their businesses, from which he charges high premiums. Three local sellers named Louis, Debra and Joan decide to pool their resources and using Michael as pointman, buy back their notes from Grebbs. Soon afterwards, Joan calls Michael to the roof, but it's a trap - Michael is nearly killed by Vlud and his modified car before KITT can come to the rescue. Joan has in fact turned on the other sellers to save herself. With Michael's help, Louis and Debra are able to round up a "posse" of sellers to buyout Grebbs for good, but on the way out of the building, Michael is targeted by Vlud. USing KITT's superior handling, Michael traps Vlud on the road and Vlud divulges all he knows about Grebbs and Joan. Michael has Grebbs and Joan locked up, and Louis and Debra continue their businesses unhindered.

THOUGHTS:
-Okay episode, wasn't very exciting towards the end though.

-Fun stuff with KITT and the fashion photographer/models. Can't KITT ever get a break?

-Oh well. At least KITT got in a (inadvertent) shot on the last model by telling her her exact weight. As the model said to Michael, "You better teach it better manners."

-Star Trek Actor Watch: Alan Oppenheimer (as Louis) has played many roles in ST, including Captain Keogh in "The Jem'Hadar" (DS9), Koroth in "Rightful Heir" (TNG) and Nezu in "Rise" (VOY). He was also in the KR episode "Deadly Maneuvers" as General Ducton.

FAVORITE QUOTE:
"Not bad...for off-the-rack..."
-Louis, critiquing Devon's attire

NITS:
-While in no rush on his way to "Muriel's Fashions," Michael drives through a stop sign for no reason.

-When KITT comes to the rescue to stop Vlud's car from hitting Michael on the roof, you can see a hand driving KITT in the last shot before KITT stops.
