Burial Ground

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Knight Rider: Season 4: Burial Ground
Burial Ground

In an ancient Kobe Indian burial site, two scientists find artifacts dating back centuries. However, before the scientists (Dr. Quentin Tanner and his assistant, Barbara Ross) can get back to the Kobe village, they are kidnapped. Michael heads to the village and finds the people divided, but speaks with social worker Susan Christopher to cool them down. Susuan tells Michael that a man named Cyrus Oakes has gotten an oil drilling contract in the burial site, and probably kidnapped the scientists to prevent them from reporting their findings and possibly shutting down Oakes' operation. Furthermore, he has promised the villagers 6 months of salary with his operation. Lucas Thorne, owner of the village museum, as well as some of the villagers, are actually in Oakes' pocket. One of Oakes' men even tries to kill Michael and Susan as they visit the site of the dig, but he is unsuccessful. Soon, Thorne tells Oakes he wants out of the deal, but Oakes has other plans for him. Oakes has one of his men put Thorne into a car with an explosive, which kills Thorne and nearly buries KITT in a landslide. Michael sets up a meeting with Oakes, promising Oakes he will leave if paid a hefty sum, but Oakes doesn't buy it - when Michael arrives as Oakes' compound that night, the guards are there waiting for him. With some help from KITT, Michael is able to escape with both the scientists and heads to the dig location, where Oakes is about to forcibly remove the Kobe Indians from the site. Michael takes out Oakes, warning his men not to act unless they want to be accessories to kidnapping and murder. The villagers have their land back, and the dig continues...

THOUGHTS:
-Okay episode, not much action though.

-No RC3 in this episode (or if he was, the scenes have been cut out for commercials).

New features on KITT:
+Zoom-In (For Infared Scanner - he has zoomed in before but this time Michael has to push this button).

FAVORITE QUOTE:
Michael: "What's wrong with being a superb piece of machinery, a partner, and a friend?"
KITT: "Nothing at all..."
Michael: "I rest my case."
KITT: "But Michael...you could bring me flowers some time."
Michael: "Don't count on it."
-Michael and KITT, after one of the Indians calls KITT the "God of Wind" and brings him some flowers as a gift.

NITS:
-When KITT goes out of convertible mode at the beginning of the episode, it looks like there's some kind of red pulley in the middle of the center console that doesn't appear in any other shots.

-The shot of KITT coming out of the FLAG semi is from season 2 (and was used in seasons 2 and 3 many times).

-As KITT neutralizes the electric fence, his scanner reflects on the camera brightly.
