During a car race, one of Bonnie's friends (and a fellow car designer) named Elena Thomas suffers another devastating "accident" to one of her drivers. Although Elena blames herself, Bonnie gets Michael on the case to try and prove that the last few incidents have been due to sabotage and not just faulty mechanics. Once at the track, Michael proves to the Thomas team (including Elena's father, Mack) that he can race for them in the next race by demonstrating speed in KITT. Michael also learns of Wayne Altfield, a racing team competitor who has bought off some of Elena's racers. At a reception that day, Michael is nearly killed by a mysterious driver in a deadly car, but Michael escapes when the man's car flips over, killing the man. Michael and KITT correctly deduce that the "accident" earlier was actually a sniper shooting, and when they go to visit the sniper's garage they are almost gunned down by an autogun. Michael finds a pad with the impression of the name of F.Lurani on it, a known hit man. Michael heads to Lurani's, but Lurani is tipped off by someone at the track, and he nearly kills Michael. With little time before the big race, Michael heads back to the track and suits up. Things go fairly well until after the first pit stop, when KITT scans a bomb in the car. Michael is able to throw the bomb into KITT's trunk and he even wins the race before finding out who the murderer was - Wayne Altfield. Wayne is Elena's real father, and he blames Mack for "stealing her talent away" from him, so he decided to destroy everything Elena built instead. Michael and KITT stop Altfield and Lurani before they can get away. As the episode ends, Michael celebrates with the FLAG team.
THOUGHTS: -Okay episode, even if it did seem like a rehash of several previous episodes ("Slammin' Sammy's Stunt Show Spectacular," for one). There should've been more of RC3, though!
