Killer K.I.T.T.

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Knight Rider: Season 4: Killer K.I.T.T.
Killer K.I.T.T.

During a system test of some upgrades to KITT's systems, two men (one of them a Nicholas Farrell) attack KITT. While Michael is occupied chasing them down, a woman impersonating Bonnie sneaks into KITT and replaces his CPU unit. Soon, KITT begins acting strangely - he develops an "attitude problem" and eventually just stops cooperating with Michael. At Farrell's place, Farrell and the other man even get the jump on Michael and when Michael wonders why KITT didn't warn him, KITT reacts with paranoia, thinking Michael is against him. Michael exits and calls Bonnie on a pay phone, but Bonnie is unable to remote pilot KITT back to the FLAG semi. KITT comes to life with a new personality, and his first orders are to kill Michael. Michael is injured but luckily KITT is still scrambled enough to not remember to scan Michael's vital signs. KITT drives to his new "home base" at a bus - a man named Marco Berio was one of the scientists who programmed KITT, and when he didn't recieve top accolades from the Foundation, he made it his mission to destroy FLAG. Michael heads to Berio Electronics (on RC3's new motorbike) and finds the plans of the local convention center, but must leave when Farrell returns. Devon is to present the Foundation's "Man of the Year" award to the top scientist responsible for KITT's programming, and the hosting convention center is KITT's next target. Bonnie programs a special memory module, and Michael and RC3 intercept KITT on the way to the convention center. KITT crashes through, but with some help from Bonnie, Michael is able to install the module before KITT can kill Devon. With KITT's personality reprogrammed back to it's original form, Michael and RC3 track down Farrell and Berio and stop them before they can escape. KITT even gets a few hits in on Berio. Bonnie and Dr. Albert (the man who was to recieve the award) reprogram KITT so that the takeover incidents cannot take place again.

THOUGHTS:
-Good episode, even if a bit like "Soul Survivor" (s2) and the end of "Lost Knight" (s3).

FAVORITE QUOTE:
"That's for making me say, 'ain't'!...That's for making me attack Michael!...And that's for computer lovers everywhere!"
-KITT, laying the smack down on Berio as payback.

NITS:
-Throughout the episode, you can tell when David Hasselhoff's stunt double takes his place (suddenly Michael has straight hair!). This is most apparent when KITT attacks Michael.

-KITT gets perturbed when he is made to say "ain't," but he has said it before ("Custom KITT").

-At the end of the episode, KITT's scanner reflects on the camera at least twice.

Also, many shots are out of sequence - for instance, much of the time when KITT's wheel turns to the right the exterior shot shows him turning left.

Nit:
First interior shot of Michael and RC after shutting down SPM mode ("We're approaching a high-density area") shows the FLAG semi in the background; the exterior is of the convention center location.
