Fright Knight

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Knight Rider: Season 4: Fright Knight
Fright Knight

On the set of the remake of "Raging Sky," an actor doing his own stunts ends up in a hospital after an extra charge goes off. Sam Clifford, the man who set up the stunt, is fired - but he swears he isn't responsible, that the "phantom of stage 28" has returned. When the original "Raging Sky" was being shot, an actor was shafted out of a big money deal and supposedly is haunting the movie studio today. Since this is the fourth accident in five weeks, Michael investigates. He meets with Karen Bennett (the production head) and Victor Gavin (a financial backer of the movie) as well as some of the other movie's stars, but soon finds out that the phantom may exist. A robot on a motorcycle nearly clips Michael, and later he is nearly shot inside of a prop stage. Later, while getting ready for he own sequence, Liz Preston is nearly killed when a light fixture falls onto her makeup table. With these events taking place, Michael hardens his resolve. He finds out that Sam Clifford's charge device was tampered with, and soon Devon calls with the news that Gavin's corporation is being backed by illegal funds and will get more money if the movie is not finished than if it is. Gavin has been workin with the phantom, but when Michael starts to wonder about his involvement, the phantom (an inside man working for the corporation) kills him. Since the only sequence in the movie that has not been shot is the stunt sequence, Michael takes the actor's place. Michael and Liz make it through the sequence, but the phantom appears and tries to shoot them down - only for KITT to arrive just in time. A chase through the studio ensues, and even though the phantom has more tricks, Michael and KITT are able to catch him. The man testifies against the corporation a short time later.

THOUGHTS:
-Well, it wasn't too bad of an episode. Certainly much better than "Halloween Knight."

-I'm sure you noticed the "Battlestar Galactica" Cylon costume during the prop sequence!

-And of course, Michael eating junk food...again.

-The edited version of the episode cuts out KITT's interplay with the two old stuntmen (he helps them play cards).

FAVORITE QUOTE:
Tobey (the movie director): "How did that car get over here?" (referring to KITT)
Michael/RC3: "Uhh...Special effects."

NITS:
-Can KITT just make any kind of music? Here he plays the "Jaws" theme!

-So why didn't KITT pick up the phantom's heat signature while scanning any of the buildings?

-And how did KITT miss the hidden exit on the north wall of the stage?
