16. The One With the Cop

In real life, anyone who impersonates a police officer by claiming to be one just because they found their badge is committing a federal offense. And in real life, that would probably get someone ten to twenty years in federal prison.

But because this was an NBC sitcom and it was a pretty blonde doing that, the cop didnt arrest her and charge her with impersonating a cop. He started dating her and became her boyfriend. Sure, he did tell her that it was an offense and that he *could* arrest her, but he didnt. But he did look her up in the NYPD computer files, and apparently, Phoebe "had led quite an interesting life". But no, he didnt arrest her because, like I said, this was a sitcom and we were supposed to suspend all disbelief.

And as we'd find out in "The One With The Mugging" (which I wrote about yesterday), Phoebe *did* have a record as a mugger and a thief! But that wasn't made known until four years later.

Anyway, I just thought I'd get this one off my chest too, seeing as how I am now allowed to post here once again. And I am glad about that!
