Watching the episode of Law & Order on which he filmed a scene, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) enter an apartment. Joey realizes that his scene was cut, and when Chandler asks if it’s possible that it’s somewhere else in the episode, Joey says that it isn’t, because the corpse in the body bag being wheeled out of the apartment building in the next scene is him. This means that Briscoe and Green found a dead body in the apartment, and that Joey played that corpse when it was found. But waitaminute—how could they have cut that scene out? If the story requires Briscoe and Green to find a body, how can they simply cut to the body bag being wheeled out in the very next scene? Don’t they typically show the dead body when it’s found on Law & Order? I’ve seen every episode of Law & Order up until when Chris Noth left the series, and I can’t imagine them ever establishing such a discovery without showing it.
---Funny Chandler Line:
Caitlin: “Hey, where's the chicken?”
Chandler: “Oh, he's in the back. The duck pissed him off. He said that eggs came first.”
---Good Comeback by Rachel:
Chandler: “Rachel, when, uh... when you were going out with Ross, did it bother you when he flirted with other women?”
Rachel: “Uh, no, no. It bothered me when he slept with other women.”
---Great Line by Guest Star Who Really Knows Joey:
(As Rachel catches up with Caitlin outside to tell her that Ross was trying to flirt with her…)
Rachel: “And besides, I... you know, I think he really likes you.”
Caitlin: “Really?”
Rachel: “Well, you know, we have 7 people and, like, 10 pizzas, what do you think?”
Caitlin: “I just... I thought Joey was there.”
One thing I wonder: is Grandma Tribbiani *really* this ignorant and gullible? Has she gone senile or something? She was *really* not able to tell that the footage Joey shot in his apartment wasn't actually part of the TV show episode? Cuz Chandler and Ross were both really sure that Joey's ruse wouldn't fool her. Ya know, cuz Joey hadn't even changed his shirt or anything! But of course, for the joke to work, she buys it, and is happy and joyful at Joey's "time on TV", and Joey is happy that she is happy, cuz ya know, she's an old lady. What else does she have, right? And who knows how much time she has left, right? That kind of thing, yeah!
Also, Joey's other Grandma, seen in "The One Where Chandler Can't Remember Which Sister", did speak English and was fiercely protective of her tiramisu recipe. And she seemed to be a bit more with it mentally as well. But did she have to answer for Mary Angela as many times as she did, when Chan was only trying to find out which sister she was? Talk about being a ballbuster, geez!
I'm thinking that Grandma Tribbiani knew, but was just playing along to make Joey happy.
This is the first and last time we see Caitlin.
Clearly she and Ross didn't work out.
