Someone has retconned Joey’s age. In The One Where Joey Moves Out(2.16), Joey mentioned that he was 28 years old, which is corroborated by The One With Joey’s Fridge(6.19), when it was mentioned that he was 13 in 1981. But in this episode, he should be 33, yet it’s mentioned that he’s 31. It seems the creators stick with this new age, as it remains consistent in The One With the Red Sweater(8.2), in which Chandler reminds him that he’s 32.
Monica's thunder, huh? Well, at least it wasn't WCW Thunder, the "B-show" companion to WCW Monday Nitro in the late 90s.
Both shows were abruptly cancelled in March 2001 by Jamie Kellner, the then-Chairman and CEO of Turner Broadcasting. And apparently the company had become a joke to even their own audience, as a fan was shown on Thunder a year before with a bag over his head holding a sign that read "IM AT A WCW EVENT". That was both funny and sad!
Anyway, back on topic. What was up with Joey thinking he could pass for 19? I thought all six were in their mid-late 20s when the series began. Now, by the seventh season, Joey is in his early thirties. Not that old, true, but he still couldnt pass for 19, that was obvious.
I started having thin facial hair in middle school and then I already had a bit of a beard and mustache in high school. So I usually looked older then I really was for many years. Believe me, I would not want to look younger at this point. I am content with my present look. And that is cool!
Uh...that was the whole POINT of the storyline- he DOESN'T look 19. Everyone knows it except him.
