4. The One With the Sharks

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Friends: Season 9: 4. The One With the Sharks

So now Monica thinks that shark attack show turns Chandler on, and it's OBVIOUSLY NOT TRUE!

And the whole ep was about the fact that she thought one thing was true, when it really wasn't!

Remember the second episode when Chandler sarcastically commented that they were watching an episode of "Three's Company" where there was "some kind of misunderstanding"?

Well, that's also what happened to this show in it's later years! They make fun of other shows that did that early in it's run, and then they themseleves would eventually be guilty of that cliched plot device as well!

Whaddya think of that?

Also, how about the one this season where Joey thinks Chandler's cheating on Monica, WHEN HE ACTUALLY ISN'T, AND JOEY THINKS HE IS, AND IT'S ALL JUST A BIG MISUNDERSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like I said, they mock sitcoms with misunderstandings at the beginning of the series, and by the end, the writers have run out of ideas and use that tired cliche of "there being some kind of misunderstanding"!!!!

WHEN IT ISN'T!!!!!!

SHEESH!!!!!!!

I HATE IT HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT I HATE IT!!!!!!!

So don't watch it.

Or, as the old joke says:

"Doctor, it hurts when I do 'this'."
"So don't do that!"

Methinks the poster doth protest too much.

OK, so I dont hate it THAT much. Please forgive me, I was surely not on the level that day.

However, the whole idea about mocking "misunderstandings" when they began the series, only to fall victim to using them themselves in the last few seasons, well, I am standing by my observation of that. Cuz I still think it means something to this day.

I was being a bit melodramatic three years ago. Happens to the best of us at times!
