Monica and Phoebe get into an argument when Monica refuses to let her play at her restaurant, and Monica ends up criticizing her music. This marks the first time anyone has ever sincerely told Phoebe to her face that her music is poor. True, Monica and Rachel told her at the end of The One Where Chandler Crosses The Line(4.7), but in that instance, they knew she wouldn’t believe them, so it was hardly sincere. Phoebe said in that episode that she’d give anything not to be appreciated in her time. Why then, is she so insulted by Monica’s statement in this one?
