I was going to suggest that if Chandler feels that Joey is not right for the role, he should just tell Joey that he gave his resume to his bosses, and that they said no. Rachel ends up suggesting just that (odd that Chandler couldn’t think of that by himself), so here’s another excuse: Why doesn’t Chandler just tell Joey that he’s not a casting director, and that he has no power to determine the actor in the commercial? Won’t that have the virtue of being true?
Do universities really one have one person making the decisions on large grants? Surely whenever cash is involved there are committees set up so that the application process is fair and that what happened in the episode doesn't happen.
Also, how ethical is it for a person to meet in a restaurant publicly the SOLE MEMBER of the grant committee in order to curry favour. I guess it could be argued that Charlie was subconsciously trying to get out of the Ross relationship and back into Benjamin's arms, but still, surely Ross should know better.
During that dinner Ross mentions that the professor is the reason he became a palentologist. Greg Kinnear turns 43 in June. David Schwimmer turns 40 in November. I guess Benjamin was a prodigy of some sort...
If someone really acted like Benjamin Hobart did here, that person would be fired.
