How many of you knew that my country props up their dictator?

Three words:

Complex. Foreign. Policy.

Mike: Three more words.

Hypocrits. Monsters. Republicans.

I thought we wanted to "spread Democracy." I guess we only do that to countries that won't give us protection money (i.e. oil). Now you see why I refer to these people as the Bush Crime Family?

By MikeC on Wednesday, January 05, 2005 - 9:13 pm:

So what would you have us do, Brian?

a. Invade and prop up a new government? People didn't like that in Iraq.

b. Put an embargo on the government? That doesn't work.

c. Go to the UN? That hasn't worked.

Look, I'm not denying that we get our oil from very very nasty customers. Our foreign policy is complex and has had ethical issues through EVERY administration (not just Republicans). I'm not that naive. But I also don't think there's an easy answer.

It's worked before, it just tends to be slower. And there's the crux of the dilemma. We live in an age where instant gratification isn't fast enough for some people.

Hey, why should the Chinese get the oil?
