Michele Bachmann

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Political Musings: Political Figures: Michele Bachmann
By Brian FitzGerald (Brifitz1980) on Thursday, April 30, 2009 - 8:43 am:

I think I have a new favorite Conservative woman. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. She combines the looks & intelligence of Sarah Palin with the speaking skills of George W Bush, the paranoia of Glen Beck, the patriotism of Joe McCarthy and the knowledge of history of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

Recently on the House floor she praised the politics of Calvin Coolage and the "roaring 20s" which ended in the stock market crash and Great Depression. She said that President Roosevelt turned a recession into a depression by signing "the Hoot-Smalley tariffs." She was referring to the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act which was authored by 2 Republicans and signed into law by President Wilson (R) in 1930, a full 3 years before Roosevelt took office.

This week when commenting on the Swine Flu outbreak she said that she found it an “interesting coincidence” that the last Swine Flu outbreak started under a Democrat as well (Jimmy Carter.) The 1976 outbreak that she was talking about actually started under Gerald R. Ford (R) in 1976. Carter did not take office until January of 1977.

In the 2008 election she suggested that the US Congress should look into it's own members to see if they are "anti-American."

She recently said that she thinks that there is a very strong chance that Obama wants to force young people to do "mandatory" government service and get sent to "re-education camps."

On Obama's cap & trade energy plans she said:
I want people in Minnesota armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax because we need to fight back. Thomas Jefferson told us, having a revolution every now and then is a good thing, and the people -- we the people -- are going to have to fight back hard if we’re not going to lose our country. And I think this has the potential of changing the dynamic of freedom forever in the United States.

No word on how this would jibe with her plans to investigate elected officials for anti-Americanism.

On the issue of gay rights she said that gay people suffer from "sexual dysfunction and sexual identity disorders." She also said that the gay community was specifically targeting children and that "our children are the prize for this community."

I think you've got your presidents mixed up. Wilson "Kept us out of War". Hoover was president in 1930. I won't point out the irony of screwing up facts when pointing out factual errors (OK, I will, and in fact, I just did).

Oops, my bad. Of course I'm not on the floor of the United States House of Representatives reading from a prepared statement either.

She announced her candidacy for presidency in 2012 yesterday. Before she goes further, she should take a refresher course in her hometown history, and learn the difference between John Wayne and John Wayne Gacy. More here.

Actually that was the THIRD time she 'announced' her candidacy. She'd already 'announced it at the Republican PRESIDENTIAL debate (what're you doing up on stage if you're NOT running for office???), and she also 'announced' it at a second location after that, before yesterdays STUNNING APOCOLYPTIC SURPRISE announcement.
Ugh.
And while in Iowa, she said that she'd 'learned everything she needed to learn in Iowa'...
...a state she and her family left when she was 12 YEARS OLD.
Riiight.
Nice way to pander to the people, until the facts are known!

Ms. Bachmann wished the late Elvis Presley a "Happy Birthday" yesterday. Unfortunately, it was the 34th anniversary of Elvis' death. More here. (Personal to Ms. Bachmann - Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi.)

By Brian FitzGerald on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 - 3:02 pm:

Over on another BB that I frequent a poster wondered if she & her handlers deliberately stage these gaffs just so that she can claim that she's being persecuted by the "LIB'RUL MEDIA"(tm).

By steve McKinnon (Steve) on Saturday, August 20, 2011 - 7:35 am:

That would be a bit of a stretch. There's nothing 'liberal' about screwing up the anniversary of an event (and the 34th one at that!), and which was publicized repeatedly by multiple sources leading up to the date, as the anniversary of Elvis's DEATH!
It would be like Bachman purposely stating that December 7, 1941 was the day the Brady Bunch visited Hawaii, just so she could blame the 'liberal media' when they rightly attacked her.

I have a problem with people in the audience that didn't yell at her, "Uh, Michelle? It's the anniversary of his passing!"
Are they such sheep that they don't dare correct her before she actually SANG 'Happy Birthday' to the late King???

By steve McKinnon (Steve) on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 - 11:12 am:

Oh, brother. Now Bachmann is blaming politicians in Washington for God's wrath! She had the audacity of saying that they weren't listening so he provided the U.S. with an earthquake and Hurricane Irene!
Honestly, where do these brain-dead zealots come from???????
The hurricane effected MILLIONS of people and a vast number of them were Republicans from North Carolina and New York to Vermont and Delaware, but using her logic it was the White House and Congress that forced God to punish THEM???
God...please give this 'woman' a few extra brain cells so she'll be smart enough to go away!!!

By Luigi Novi (Luigi_novi) on Thursday, January 05, 2012 - 3:16 pm:

The media treated her unfairly because she's an insane woman.

LOL.

By Benn (Benn) on Friday, January 06, 2012 - 6:45 am:

So, Michelle Bachman's out, but her husband isn't, eh?
