Would he be better than Trump for 2024?
That's like saying "Would you rather be blind or deaf?" Neither one is particularly desirable.
Amen to that, Adam.
Ronnie D just signed into law a bill exempting his travel records from the public disclosure law. What does he have to hide? Would you want this book banning jerk weed as president? More here.
Yeah, Ronnie, what are you trying to hide here.
And how about his petty feud with Disney. What's that all about?
It was not his idea, it is meant to avoid broadcasting his location and travel routine so attacks on him cannot be easily planned. That's the official line anyway. *sarcasm mode on* I'm glad to see he's already started thinking like a dictator. He has the paranoia angle down pat. *sarcasm mode off*
He's afraid The Mouse might get him.
Ronnie D's dictatorial tendencies can be read here. I posted on the Republican party page here that the party is living in the past. DeSantis is the personification of that. He is supposed to announce a presidential run soon. Heaven help us if he wins.
He's afraid The Mouse might get him.
Let's hope he does. More on DeSantis' war with Disney here. Disney is the biggest employer and taxpayer in the state of Florida. The dictator wanna be picked the wrong organization to mess with.
The Mouse will step on him, like the insect he is.
The NAACP has issued a warning regarding travel to Florida for black Americans, as a consequence of DeSantis' policies. Which the organization feels are discriminatory. More here.
DeSantis needs to be removed.
DeSantis, the Lower Class (or no class) Twit of the Year, launched his presidential bid on Twitter yesterday. In an announcement that was at first loaded with glitches. More here.
Once again, I suggest that an IQ test should be required for those seeking high public office.
Nine people, including a one-year old child, were shot near a Hollywood, Florida beach last night. This is a consequence of Ronnie Boy's extremely lax gun laws. Where you don't need a permit, and can pretty much buy a gun for the cash, no questions asked. More here.
And this guy wants to be President.
God help America.
Biden is probably hoping he's the nominee, because I think he could easily beat this nutcase.
Never underestimate the power of the vote when nutcases are involved.
Sadly, the only motivation most Americans need to vote for someone these days is that their election will upset people on the other side of the political spectrum
Some people should not be allowed to run for office. As I have said, they should be required by law to take an I.Q. test first.
I overstated that a bit. Not really 'most' Americans but certainly many.
It's all good.
Ronnie D is at it again. This time, he vetoed funding for Central Florida's flood districts. Among other vetoes. Yet he says that's good for the environment. Talk about disconnected from reality. And this jerk weed wants to be president? More on the fool here.
Be fitting if he were caught in a flood.
According to USA Today, DeSantis acts less like a governor, and more like an authoritarian figure (read:dictator!). Which will mirror his behavior if he is elected president. So Jeff. Go right ahead and vote for this petty tyrant, if you're so inclined. Just don't say that you weren't warned.
If you've seen what Jeff has posted in the Religious Musings sections, well...
It's people like Jeff who keep DeSantis in power.
Ron DeSantis finally did something I approve of, although it doesn't increase the odds that I would vote for him. He signed a bill ending permanent alimony. As someone who does have to pay permanent alimony, he showed a bit more chutzpah than New Jersey's Christie. Who signed a law making alimony last no longer than the marriage, but was not retroactive. More on that here.
Trying to change his image?
Probably not. Sexist DeSantis is probably trying to appeal to the male demographic. My guess is that 90-plus per cent of people who pay alimony are men. Plus, some dumb asses may believe the federal government can do something about alimony; that DeSantis can change those laws if he becomes dictator...umm...president. Divorce and alimony are state issues, not federal.
Divorce and alimony are state issues, not federal.
Wonder if the moron is aware of this.
He's not a moron, the people who vote for him are, and whereas he knows very well the constitutional issues of his position, his voters do not. Just one more way of convincing them to vote for him and against their own interests. Republicans are very good at that.
Same ting could be said of what happened in Germany, 90 years ago.
DeSantis is looking to bring legal action in regard to the deal that AB InBev has with Dylan Mulvaney, the transgender "influencer" whose presence in an ad caused a conservative backlash, and Bud Light sales to tumble. His stated concern is how it affects the Florida state employees pension fund. More here. Unless DeSantis is the trustee of the pension fund, this should be left to others. And if DeSantis is the trustee, heaven help the Florida state retirees.
Bet you're glad that you don't live there.
My two brothers did move there, Joe in 2014, and Jim in 2015. Jim has since passed away, a consequence of too much smoking and drinking. And, a lady I was very fond of (you might say I carried a torch for her for years) moved there with her family in 1975. Joe is very conservative, and probably likes DeSantis a lot. Jim, who was even more right leaning, would have adored him. The lady, I don't know, as we broke off contact ages ago. (Her idea, not mine. )
Have you asked Joe whether he supports DeSantis?
I'm afraid to, Tim. I'm pretty sure my brother does support DeSantis (maybe we can refer to him from now on as "DeSaster". Which is not an original nickname; I borrowed it from someone else.) And I'll get a lecture about how great DeSaster is. He once (very briefly) tried to get me to support Trump; I don't want to have to listen to more of the same.
Yeah, I can understand.
An interesting commentary on why DeSantis' campaign is collapsing around him.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUs-S9mIwqc
Fascinating.
Well, Ronnie Baby's campaign did collapse. DeSantis, who thinks that certain books, and drag queens, are more dangerous to children than a disturbed gunman firing off an AR-15, has dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, and thrown his support behind Orange Peel Don. More on that here.
