When Lister is having the flashback to the 'locker incident', Rimmer is wearing his blue 'hard light' uniform which he didn't get until 'Legion' in season 6. Since the locker scene was set on Red Dwarf, Rimmer shouldn't have that uniform. In all truth, he should be wearing his beige 'Second Technicians' uniform since this scenario was probably set just after the 'reawakening' of Lister... (By the way, the beige uniform doesn't appear in the song but all of Rimmer's other uniforms do...)
As far as I remember it wasn't his hard light uniform, but a blue Red Dwarf uniform (similar to the beige, except it was blue) that they used during all the flashbacks. They made no effort to make Red Dwarf look like it should have. Mind you, they never did explain what happened to the control centre (not it's name, but I can't remember it), in III.
Given in this flashback, it's Kochanski that takes the cat, it's obvious it's a parallel universe - which has difference to the normal Red Dwarf world we know, meaning Rimmer could have been wearing a blue jacket in that universe.
No- Phillip was referring to a flashback to the 'real'(for want of a better term) RD universe.
Yes but straight after the locker incident doesn't Kochanski cat thing happen, making it in another universe?
It was called the drive room.
No- as I remember the Kochanski cat thing was in a different ep. I might be wrong though, as my brother taped over my copy of this episode.
No I think you're right, the cat thing happened in the ep where they picked up Kochanski in the cross dimensional bridge. My mistake.
For once I had a correct piece of information! YES!!!

The flashback could have been from a time when the unifirms were different, & the design was changed between the fashback & The End.
Why was Starbug carrying so much of Rimmer's things anyway? Maybe they picked up the golf clubs after Rimmer became hard light, but the shoe trees? (Not to mention Rachel in Stoke Me A Clipper. Ooops, I just did mention it.)
Sadly the only redeeming feature of this episode is the Rimmer song, but at least it's near the end, so the rest of the episode can be easily skipped.
Kryten named the washing machine ....... FRANK! You know what I mean, KAM.
It's possible that they got most of Rimmer's stuff from salvaging derelicts. After all, Rimmer's a smeghead, and even if he doesn't need a shoetree, he's liable to get one anyways.
As for Rimmer's uniform, the creator's have a get-out in that the entire scene is a flashback: Lister's thinking about Rimmer, and all his recent memories of him are wearing the padded blue outfit, so that's what he thinks of him wearing.
Considering the disturbing kiss that happens, let's all be glad he didn't imagine Rimmer dressed like Low Rimmer from Angels & Demons.
The horror! The horror!
That 'kiss' was super. It would have been even better had he imagined Rimmer as 'Low Rimmer' from Angels & Demons. Should have been more of this promiscuity throughout the episodes!!!
Loved the Arnold Rimmer song from this episode
