Great Lines: "Holly, are you sure these are my hips?"
One thing did bother me about me this episode. Why the Chef's exam? Seeing as almost every rank on the ship was higher than Rimmer's (including the guy who changed the bog(sp?) rolls), why did Lister choose the Chef's exam?
The Chef's exam was the easiest one to pass. Lister isn't even clued up enough to pass this one anyway, so I doubt he could have passed astrophysics.

Something that's due for a comeback are drinks cans with ringpulls that detatch from the can. (These had disappeared only 2 years after this was made.)
They still exist in some countries. One of the main reasons they got rid of them was because some people used to yank off the ringpulls, put them in the can, drink their drink and some would accidentally choke on it.
This is the one where Lister definitively says to Rimmer, disguised as Kochanski, that he didn't have sex with Kochanski and Holly says they only ever exchanged about 70 or so words.
Summary Nit: Rimmer was not brought back because Lister had exchanged the most words with him. Holly brought Rimmer back because he could keep Lister sane. The bit about the words was that Lister had talked more to Rimmer (and the rubber plant) than he had to Kochanski.
NANJAO: When Rimmer came to the table in the flashback, he saluted & I realized that Selby, Chen & Petersen all outranked him. So I guess Lister does hobnob with officers.
Not too bright of Rimmer mentioning that he was taking Learning Drugs, but I guess the main point of that was to foreshadow Lister using them.
Not Necesarily A Nit: When Rimmer is taking his shower, he jumps out when it gets too hot, but that would imply that the shower, which we don't see, is stationary and not hitting Rimmer whereever he happens to be. I would think that the imaginary water would follow him around so he couldn't 'jump out of the shower'.
Rimmer says that Skutters don't get time off, but in The End Lister said the Skutters had a better union than technicians.
I think the remastered version cut a bit. I seem to remember 'Kochanski' looking down 'her' shirt and saying something like "I've seen something you haven't."
The credits list C. P. Grogan as playing Kochanski, but shouldn't they have said C. P. Grogan & Chris Barrie, since at one point Rimmer was pretending to be Kochanski? ;-)
Just because those guys outranked Rimmer doesn't necessarily mean they're officers.
The skutters might have a better union than the technicians - it still could be a bad union, only that it's better than the technicians' union.
Your argument about Chriss Barrie getting a credit for Kochanski would cause havoc in the end credits for Bodyswap.
Actually, considering the fun they could have with them, the credits on Red Dwarf are all rather dry...
In the first two eps Rimmer's shirt had a black Second Technician patch over his left pocket & a red patch over his right pocket. In this ep the red patch is over the left pocket & the black patch is nowhere to be seen.
On Petersen etc. outranking Rimmer:
In The End Holly calls Petersen 'Catering Officer Olaf Petersen' IIRC - therefore Petersen is a Chef, and he therefor outranks Rimmer. Dunno about Chen and Selby though.
So Peterson IS an Officer. ;-)
No, he mearly outranks Rimmer. Which is everybody except Lister and the lab mice. (I believe it was mentioned in the episode "Balance of Power"
Well, since Holly calls him Catering OFFICER Olaf Peterson, I think he's an officer.
It looks like Lister takes the Chef's exam outside the bunk room,as I can see that just round the corner. I assumed it was in the teaching room until I rewatched it on DVD.
I guess the guys were still adjusting at this point.
I mean all that rank stuff was meaningless now.
