When "Jesus" was being chased by the roman soldiers, his friend called him "My Lord" If he was just some simple guy who just happened to be named Jesus, why would he be called that?
While it would inflict Short Show Syndrome on the episode, wouldn't Kryten's knowledge of chemistry allow them to make a battery from local items in Albion? Then again, isn't Kryten electrically powered himself?
I thought an earlier episode established that Rimmer's family were Seventh Day Advent Hoppists? Is it a case where his dad was a Hoppist and his mom from the Church of Judas or is it a nit?
Maybe the Hoppists believe the Judas/Jesus Twin thing?
Maybe.
Another possibility is maybe he was just pulling Lister's leg about the Hoppist thing. I'd have to rewatch the episode (whichever one it was) to be sure though.
The Rimmer family was really messed up, IMO.
Arnold should be happy that he doesn't have to deal with them anymore.
