Gunmen Of The Apocalypse

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Red Dwarf: Red Dwarf VI: Gunmen Of The Apocalypse
By Rimmer on Monday, December 14, 1998 - 5:38 pm:

This sounds like that episode of Voyager where the Hirogen invaded the ship.

By Mike Konczewski on Tuesday, December 15, 1998 - 6:57 am:

I know it was silly, but I cracked up when I saw Lister's attempt to fool the aliens. That upside-down head stunt gets me everytime.

By Ed Jefferson (Ejefferson) on Tuesday, December 15, 1998 - 10:50 am:

Red Dwarf did it first though. For reason a lot of American Star Trek fans seem to belive that Red Dwarf rips of Star Trek a lot of the time, when the opposite is truer (just look at 'Thanks for the Memory' and Conundrum').

By Johnny Veitch on Wednesday, December 16, 1998 - 1:59 pm:

I`d say "Clues" was more like "Thanks for the Memory."

When we see Starbug move in to fire at the Simulants' ship, the main thruster are completely dead.

By Gordon Lawyer on Tuesday, July 20, 1999 - 1:58 pm:

Well, Doctor Who did one and Star Trek did one, so I suppose we shouldn't be too surprised that Red Dwarf did a Western episode. The main difference between this one and The Gunfighters and Specter of the Gun is that this one is actually good (possibly the best sixth season episode).

By Richard Davies on Friday, July 23, 1999 - 5:35 pm:

Fireball XL5 did one was well to reuse the 4 feather falls sets.

By Keith Alan Morgan on Thursday, September 02, 1999 - 4:17 am:

When Starbug hit the molten lave it reminded me of the Doctor Who episode Underworld.

By Chris Thomas on Thursday, September 02, 1999 - 9:07 am:

Hopefully only the start of it.

By Keith Alan Morgan on Friday, September 03, 1999 - 2:51 am:

I believe the ship crashing into the newly forming planet in Underworld is the Episode 1 cliffhanger.

(Not that I blame you for forgetting. It is a rather unmemorable story.)

By Chris Thomas on Friday, September 03, 1999 - 3:00 am:

Well episode one could be regarded as the start of the story, it's almost a prelud to the rest of it.

By Chris Thomas on Thursday, November 18, 1999 - 2:03 am:

Did anyone else notice the piano being played in the background in the saloon is actually doing the Red Dwarf theme (all saloon-like, of course).

By Richard Davies on Sunday, December 05, 1999 - 3:06 pm:

It's a bit of a bad design for an escape capsule to have a key, (Rimmer askes for them,) isn't the idea to make a quick & hastle free getaway?

By Mark Swinton on Sunday, February 13, 2000 - 2:29 pm:

One of the few Dwarf shows I have ever seen.
What annoys me is that at the point where the ugly guy in the bar is saying, "...now what about the insult?" the audience laughs at Lister's response and thus drowns out the actual punchline.

By KAM on Monday, March 26, 2001 - 4:06 am:

I believe the ship crashing into the newly forming planet in Underworld is the Episode 1 cliffhanger.

No, I was wrong. That happened several minutes into episode 2.

Nice ending where Starbug flies off into the sunset.

A wink to the Westerns this episode was parodying.

By Judi Jeffreys, Granada in NorthWest (Jjeffreys_mod) on Monday, January 18, 2021 - 12:56 pm:

VERY IMPRESSIVE, LISTER. TOO BAD THIS ISN’T THE WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS

The tennis ball-girl's reaction to Lister.

By Tim McCree (Tim_m) on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 - 5:33 am:

????????

By Judi Jeffreys, Granada in NorthWest (Jjeffreys_mod) on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 - 4:21 pm:

it's a joke playing on the fact that Lister is said in this episode to be using the Wimbledon sports simulation game as a way to have sex with the tennis girls.

By Tim McCree (Tim_m) on Thursday, January 21, 2021 - 5:11 am:

Oh yeah, I remember that bit now.
