The Quiz Show
Lucy is short of money and, to get some extra cash, gets on a Freddy Fillmore show, "Females are Fabulous". She finds out that in order to win the prize of $1,000, she must act as if a man she's never met before in her life is her first husband. At eight o'clock, a drunk shows up, and Lucy mistakenly acts as if HE is the first husband from the show. Then the other guy appears, and Ricky threatens to leave. Shortly after midnight (the time Lucy must keep the charade up) Lucy begins explaining to Ricky. They win the $1,000, but it all goes to pay the bills. I don't know if you'd classify this as a nit or just an observation, but Lucy had until 8:00 at night before the man was due to show up. In the episode it is shown that Ricky is there before eight o'clock. So why didn't Lucy tell Ricky the whole story beforehand and have him act as if he'd had no idea about anything happening? Sure, that's cheating, but Lucy is not above cheating, as proved in other episodes.
