Lucy and Superman

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: I Love Lucy: Season Six: Lucy and Superman
Superman is Little Ricky's hero, so big Ricky asks the real Superman (George Reeves) to entertain at Little Ricky's fifth birthday party. Lucy tells everyone, but it turns out the real Superman can't accept the invitation, so Lucy decides to fill in.

Little Ricky's birth time, as stated in here, makes no sense; why would Ricky have to perform at the club, as stated in "Lucy Goes to the Hospital", at 11:00 a.m.?

I have a chance to correct a rumor passed around for years on this episode. It has been stated that George Reeves never received credit as the actor who portrayed Superman in this episode. To the contrary, After viewing the Network print of this film, the narrator clearly says: "Superman was played by George Reeves" over the end titles. Somehow in sindication, this narration was removed and a fine actor was robbed of his due credit.

Best Scene of the Series:
Ricky: "In 15 years of marriage, this has to be the craziest stunt you ever pulled" (or something like that, referring to Lucy on the ledge in a Superman suit.)
Superman: "Wait a minute. You've been married to her for 15 years?"
Ricky (exasperated): "Yeah, 15 years."
Superman: "And they call ME Superman!!"

I only caught the last few minutes of this
episode as I was watching Three's Company on
the other Nick-At-Nite feed(advantage of having
Direct Tv!:))

I wonder if the 15 years was the actual length
of time Desi and Lucy were married at time of
filming of the episode or just the amount of
time Ricky and Lucy were married.

BTW:Am I the only one who thinks we need a
Laverne & Shirley board?(As well as a Gilligan's
Island and Three's Company boards?)
Has nothing to do with nothing..but since we
do have an I Love Lucy board hows about some more
classic sitcom boards?
Just a suggestion.:)

Lucy and Desi were married in 1940. They divorced in 1960. So when the "Superman" episode was shot, they were married 15 years, in real life and in the series.
Lucy filed for divorce the day after shooting the last "Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour." However, as I read in many places, she loved Desi until the day she died.
I would like to do a "Honeymooners" board, but I am unfamiliar with a lot of the so-called "lost episodes."

Crossover expert par excellence Thom Holbrook of Poobala.com has declared that "Lucy and Superman" is NOT a crossover. Here's the reason why.

By Brian FitzGerald on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 - 6:08 pm:

I do remember watching this ep years ago with my mom and finding it a little cheesy that they only refer to him as Superman; even the adults don't refer to him as George. My mom pointed out the same thing, that all the little kids watching might not get it, so they played that little word game where everyone calls him Superman but he acts like George Reeves that actor.

By Mike Cheyne (Mikec) on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 - 1:14 pm:

In the context of the episode, it makes perfect sense: the kids want Superman, they don't want George Reeves.

What makes it not a crossover me is the opening scene with Ricky and Little Ricky watching Superman on TV--I know the comics established that Superman had a fictionalized TV show about him in his "real world," but it seems unlikely that the real Superman would star in a TV show about him.
