Lucy Meets Orson Welles

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: I Love Lucy: Season Six: Lucy Meets Orson Welles
Orson Welles is going to do an act at Ricky's club, and asks if he can use Lucy as an assistant. Ricky tells Welles she'll be busy and tries to send Lucy to Florida. Lucy meets Welles at a store, finds out about Ricky's tricks, and gets in the act anyway, convinced she'll do Shakespeare -- but Welles really wants her as a magic act assistant! Her former drama teacher, also thinking Lucy will do Shakespeare, brings her current drama class to the act. Lucy is forced to recite Shakespeare as she hovers in the air!

Welles does Romeo's "suicide speech", as my English class calls it, in this episode. Lucy wanted to do a scene with him, and when he begins, she cries, "Hey, I'm already dead in that scene!"

It's a funny line, but inaccurate. In this scene, Juliet is not dead. She merely looks like she is dead, haven taken the mixture the Friar gave her. It is after Romeo drinks the poison that she stabs herself.
