Aside from Andy Griffith how many other sitcoms
were there where the title character had the
same first name as the star?
For a really hilarious What If story check out
Laverne And Shirley Meet Lucy And Ethel at
Squeakyland.
IMHO,Laverne & Shirley were the only female
comedy duo that ever came close to Lucy and
Ethel.(Well Janet and Chrissie do come close!)
btw:Lucille Ball was also known as Queen of the Bs
before she hit it big first on radio then on tv.
also for a rare appearance outside of her own
shows check out the Best of Three's Company.

"Valerie" -- Valerie Harper. This became "Valerie's Family" and then "The Hogan Family".
"The Mary Tyler Moore Show" -- MTM played "Mary Richards".
"Roseanne"
That's just off the top of my head. Need I go on?
"Billy" - starring Billy Connolly during his first clean shaven period (guess no-one remembers it, eh?)
I remember it. If I remember right that was the US show where he was a babysitter or housekeeper or something. I remember a US show that he was in but not much else.
Bob Newhart show, Bob Hartley
A couple more:
The Lenny Henry Show - The 2 series with Len as Delbert Wilkins DJing at the Brixton Broadcasting Corperation & Crucial FM can count as a sitcom.
The Phil Silvers Show - Sometimes also known as You'll Never Get Rich & Sgt Bilko.
