Wow. Some explosive developments.
Kudos to the creators for getting Ronald Guttman's Italian correct. I get so ticked when I see TV shows and movies that screw it up.
So now Locke knows Sawyer's real name. Interesting.
Was I the only one who thought that the Other who appeared to the trio at the end of Act 3 was Jack's father? I was thrown off a bit, because I thought it sounded like him.
Man do I hope that inbred reject from Deliverance and his crew get what's coming to them!
And Jack's closing question to Ana? NIIIIIIIIICE!!! (I wrote the above item before that line was delivered, so I'm glad the creators are anticipating what some of us want!)
Poor Sawyer. How many different wounds has he sustained on this show, now? He's become this season's Boone!
So now Locke knows Sawyer's real name. Interesting.
Apparently, he's known about it since Hurley's census. What I find odd is that he chose that particular moment to bring it up.
"Zeke" and his companions were too well positioned for surrounding the search party and in capturing Kate. It makes you wonder if it was laziness by the writing staff or if the Others knew about (and possibly planned) Walt's communications with Michael.
The apology and half-hearted acceptance (including the excuse "I made a mistake.") between Jack and Kate parallelling almost the exact same exchange between Jack and Sarah, seems to signal either that Jack assumes that he's already lost Kate to Sawyer or that Jack has decided that Ana-Lucia is an easier catch.
Show of hands: Who thinks Hurley really has a chance with Libby? He does have more of a chance than Charlie does at the moment of reconciling with Claire, but that's not saying much.
Zeke's quotation from "someone a long time ago" was the beginning of Alvar Hanso's mission statement for Dharma: "From the dawn of our species, Man has been blessed with curiosity. Our most precious gift, without exception, is the desire to know more - to look beyond what is accepted as the truth and to imagine what is possible." This suggests that the theory that he is Hanso may be correct. Or maybe he's watched the orientation film too many times.
I believe I was the one who suggested that the Others are Hanso Foundation.
Follow up: Speculation was on December 01, 2005 - 12:13 am on the "What Kate Did" board".
"Zeke's" comment about blowing up the hatch lends further credence to the idea that The Others are part of the Dharma Project/Hanso Foundation.
Oh, and I also loved Jack's last line to Ana-Lucia.
TomM I took the encirclement of the hunting party to be part of the trap they had laid. The Other's seem rather well informed as to what the survivors are doing and who they are. I am betting they used mike as bait to get this little talk done from a position of power. The only thing is they appear to definately have the upper hand on the island so why not just stroll into camp? Also how they could have the smoke cloud of doom and yet look like deliverance hillbillies and use common firearms doesnt exactly make a lot of sense unless the cloud is not theirs.
Next week looks intense. Charlie off the deep end?
I just wasn't sure why Jack asked Ana-Lucia about training an army. I would think that Sayid or Locke would make a much better choice.
He probably asked Ana because he and she just happened to be sitting together talking, and perhaps because he came up with the idea there. He could just as easily intend all three of them (Ana, Locke, Sayid), as well as Eko, to help train the group. Remember, he didn't ask her if she would train the army, and certainly not by herself; just how long she thought it would take.
I would like to point out that Sawyer says that "Zeke" is SOB that shot him. While he was there, this isn't true. It was one of the other, um, Others on the boat. Then again, Sawyer may not care enough to make that distinction. Or he just didn't notice which one shot him on the raft while he was reaching for his own gun.
In Man of Science, Man of Faith, Christian Shephard rebuked Jack for not allowing Sarah any glimmer of hope, despite the fact that Jack was merely trying to be honest to her about the fact that her chances of full recovery were a million to one. Now, in the teaser of this ep, when Jack tells Angelo and Gabriela that he'll try to operate on Angelo, Christian shoots Jack a dirty look, even though Jack didn't in any way indicate that he was confident in the operation's success, and made it clear that he agreed with his dad about it's chances. Why is this? Sure, Christian was right in a sense in the former ep because Sarah's operation was a complete success, and Angelo's was not, but is he psychic, or something? Does he expect Jack to be?
Jack doesn't seem to have his tattoos in this flashback, presumably this will be addressed in a future episode.
A palm tree moved. Who was responsible?

Sadly, they don't always get it right with Korean. In the previous (to this episide) Sun/Jin flashback, my wife burst out laughing at one of the characters who obviously wasn't played by a Korean.
