Sayid leads a small group to meet with Locke and negotiate the release of Charlotte. Flashing forward, Sayid is a hit man, but his latest target may prove more complicated than he expects.

Sayid episode V

Notes:
-In the flash forward, Sayid is working for Ben, killing off a list of names.
-The beacon's delay to arrive may relate to Desmond's comment of the island acting as a "snow globe" in Live Together, Die Alone. Daniel's advice to Frank about sticking to their exact bearing to leave echoes Ben's advice to Michael in that same episode.
-Sayid and Desmond are currently on their way off of the island, flying to the nearby boat.

Unanswered Questions: Why is Sayid working for Ben? Who is he protecting? What event was Ben alluding to (thinking with his heart before his gun)? Who did Elsa work for? Did she work for Abaddon? Is that why she has a bracelet similar to Naomi's? Why did the payload take so long to reach the island? Where was it for the extra minutes on its timer? Why did Ben have the hidden room with the extra clothes and passports in his house?

Great line: "Oh, awesome, the ship sent us another Sawyer." -Hurley, about Miles.

I love the cast of this show. Sawyer's scene with Kate was wonderful, especially his delivery of that last line. Kudos to Josh Holloway.

So, after seeing this episode, my hypothesis is that Elsa, like Naomi is working for Abaddon. For whatever reason, Abaddon and his people think that there are no people alive on the island, but Sayid and Ben know otherwise, so Sayid is offing Abaddon's people to protect those still on the island.

Your interpretation is pretty much how I take it as well.

But...isn't the idea of the hitman falling in love with his intended prey really, really old hat? Substitute 'hitman' with 'con man' and we've seen this same story on Lost already.
