During the past season, Spike makes constant references to the soap opera "Passions". It is my understanding that "Passions" made a Buffy reference. So, how can "Passions" be fiction in the Buffy universe AND "Buffy" be fiction in the Passions universe?
I'm iffy about seeing Vampires smoking cigarettes. Doesn't smoking require breathing?
Well, talking requires breath too, and vampires seem to be able to do that (all the while claiming they have no breath...)
They don't have to breath air, as they cannot die by suffication. Something happens to air within a vampire (Personally, I think Vampire breath is some kind of illness or curse, ala Ringwraiths) that leaves it unusuable for CPR.
Given all that we've seen in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel", I think that Angel's statement, "I have no breath," in "Prophecy Girl" should be treated in retrospect as a goof. I don't think that vampires in the Buffy-verse need to breath, but I think they can draw a sufficient amount of air into their dead lungs to expel it with sufficient force to inflate a human's lungs in the performance of CPR.
Plus, they tend to breathe heavily when hit really hard. You know, by having the wind knocked out of them. And their breath is also seen on cold enough nights or in cold enough places. At least in the Buffyverse, that is.
