903 - Puma Man

Nitcentral's Bulletin Brash Reflections: Mystery Science Theater 3000: Season Nine: 903 - Puma Man
Movie Summery:Some bad guys, led by Donald Pleasence, want to find the real Puma Man, an Aztec god of some sort, and figure he's in London. They can identify him by throwing he off a building and seeing if he flies, 'cause Puma Men can fly,of course. The Puma Man turns out to be named Tony Farms. He meets a big Aztec guy named Vadinho. They become friends and uncover Donald's plan to control the world by making models of the heads of the leaders of the world and staring at them. Tony defeats Donald, while Vadinho does all the hard work.

Host Segments:
Prologue:Servo gets "short man's disease" but gets treated with baby aspirin.

Segment 2:Mike goes for the "dry look" and his head gets really dry with the help of Shellie the nanite.
Segment 3:Tom and Crow make Mike become "Coatimundi Man" and he gets all the proportional strengh and agility of a coatimundi.
Segment 4:Tom and Crow make a replica of Roger Whitaker's head and control him. Mike doesn't know what they can do with him though so Tom and Crow threaten to sic Roger Whitaker on him.
Segment 5:After the movie, Crow decides to resign, but he returns for less pay and no benefits. Pearl's party flops, but Brain Guy's doesn't. Roger Whitaker shows up and charms Pearl.

Could the producers of Puma Man have picked a skinnier actor for the title role? And then to have courderoy pants as part of his costume? Finally, Donald Pleasance proved he will appear in any movie, no matter how pathetic.

By Jason Krietsch on Friday, February 19, 1999 - 1:19 pm:

When Vadinho tells Tony there going home, Tony says, "we cant' go home, there probably waiting for us," or to that extent, implying it's the bad guys waiting for him, the he tacks on, "they're probably worried," Huh? since when do bad guys worry if their enemy doesn't show up?

By Mike Konczewski on Thursday, March 04, 1999 - 8:06 pm:

They're villians, but that doesn't mean they can't be sensitive, too.

By Jake Dominguez on Sunday, May 09, 1999 - 2:53 am:

And with how bizarre this movie is, I wouldn't be surprised if they were worried.

(So, can anybody think of any movies with WORSE flying scenes than this one?)

By Lea Frost on Sunday, September 17, 2000 - 7:05 pm:

Great line:

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH-- Oh look, Big Ben! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

By Donald Pleasance on Friday, October 06, 2000 - 10:05 pm:

PUMA MAN is on this Saturday, 10/7.

Will be back for further insults.

By The real Donald Pleasance on Saturday, October 07, 2000 - 5:57 am:

Impostor! Pyoo-ma man will be airing today. Pyoo-ma man!

By Whiny guy with a mustache on Saturday, October 07, 2000 - 7:50 am:

Help, I'm falling at a ninety degree angle defying all known laws of physics!

By Aztec courier on Saturday, October 07, 2000 - 10:25 pm:

The pyuma-man!! This movie is the best at sucking. I kept cracking up in the scene when Donald Pleasence stares at Tony. Pleasence has this bugged out look when he stares.

Sad ending....Pumaman survived.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Last week they showed Squirm on Sci-Fi. This week they should've shown the finale. Instead, they showed this.

By Judge Dreadlocks on Sunday, October 08, 2000 - 5:57 pm:

Don't worry mon!! Dey be showing more MST when dey come to run tings. Sun is shining and sci-fi showing new shows till next year mon.

Now, puff some ganja and be happy!!

By Spornan on Sunday, October 08, 2000 - 7:16 pm:

Not new shows. The last episode aired quite some time ago. They will continue to keep showing the reruns though, including Merlin's Mystical something or other, a show which was supposedly never going to be re-ran!

By L Boogie on Wednesday, January 03, 2001 - 12:35 am:

There are so many funny lines in this:

"My name is Pleasance and I am funky."
"First thing he does is poop on my car."
"A little doobage for later."
"My mom had a pair of earrings that did the exact same thing." (during Pumaman transformation scene)

When he's hanging for his life from a window and Mike exclaims "Pumaman!"

Watching this again, this should've have been called Tony the Aztec Man, cause he does most of the work here.

By L Boogie on Wednesday, January 03, 2001 - 12:37 am:

oh, i forgot

"Each man is a punching bag, I guess..."

and I meant Vadino the Aztec Man, not wimpy dockers donning Tony.

By Alpaca Man on Monday, January 15, 2001 - 12:25 am:

My favorite riff...

Vadhino props up the unconcious Tony

"Say hello to the nice people, Pumaman."

"Hello people!"

By bela okmyx on Thursday, March 01, 2001 - 9:18 am:

The guy who plays Vadinho in this movie finally answers the question, "Is it possible to have a face larger and even more oblong than Robert Z'Dar?" (See Future War, show #1004).

This is my favorite episode of the Scifi era. I don't have it on tape, it's not scheduled to run again before....the end (that was very hard for me to type) and I don't feel like paying for it.

I hope that Scifi decides to run the marathon that everybody wants. Why wouldn't they? They always just run B movies on the weekend anyway. If they do, I hope they run this episode. Could the rights have expired already? How much could they possibly cost? You'd think the producers would literally be giving them away. Who's going to want them after MST3k?

By Kate Laws on Tuesday, April 23, 2002 - 11:13 am:

My friend and I are getting t-shirts that say "I kiss my frog in your honor" in honor of this movie. That line cracked me up!

By Chris Diehl on Monday, March 10, 2003 - 11:41 pm:

Let us sing the stirring Pumaman theme. "Pumaman, he flies like a moron!" Oh, and "I'm falling at a 40 degree angle, violating all the laws of physics!"

You will obey me, Roger Whitaker.

By Merat on Monday, April 07, 2003 - 11:52 pm:

Boy, that Aztec guy healed really fast after getting beaten-up, didn't he?

Vadhino, hiding (badly) behind a tree: "I am a wood sprite."

By Josh M (Joshm) on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 - 3:49 pm:

I just watched this again the other day. Good as always.

"Hahahahaha! I mean, you look great."

"So dinosaurs died out because they forgot how to love? Is that right?"
"In a wrong sort of way, yeah."
