Whose idiotic idea was it to praise sodium as the cure to kill monsters with Nathan's ball park franks in their mouths? Plus, how Eulabelle discovers the cure provided so much tension that I literally bruised my head on my coffee table drifting off into unconsciousness.

AH, cynicism proves a good remedy!

Mike refers to this movie as "another Afrikaaner beach movie". What does he mean by this?

By ScottN on Saturday, June 23, 2001 - 11:50 am:

My guess would be that he means all white people.

Afrikaaner - White South African.

By kerriem. on Saturday, June 23, 2001 - 12:20 pm:

Yeah...the riffing can get very sarcastic on this particular issue (see "Young white males declared best in world!!" from 'Catalina Caper').

By Snickerdoodle on Saturday, June 23, 2001 - 3:15 pm:

No, his riff is referring to one of the credits, a name like "Robert Verberkemoes" or something, an Afrikaaner-like name.

I thought Afrikaaner meant a South African of Dutch descent...

Hmmmm...I didn't realize that South African surnames were any different than the surnames of say, England or Australia.

I have to agree with Paul Chaplin. The Del Aires are actually a pretty good band.

My favorite riffs:

My skull!!!

Any news on the war of northern aggression?

Is there anyone who loves pickles more than I do?

By Snickerdoodle on Saturday, June 23, 2001 - 4:50 pm:

Maybe it's not South Africa...wait, lemme run to the dictionary...

Okay, from The American Heritage Dictionary...an Afrikaner (one a) is a South African of European descent, usually Dutch, who speaks Afrikaans. I suppose a Dutch surname would be different...anyway...

I love this movie.

"What would you like to hear, Elaine?"

"How about...mmm..."

CROW: Bop!

"Move your feet, you load!"

"Huh, Mars just exploded."

"She's dressed like Colonel Sanders."

"Here, let me just throw this gay man at you."
"Fight scene choreographed by William Shatner."

I MAY be wrong but I think some music from this film was re-used in the Doctor Who story 'The Space Museum'. I think it was near the end of part one.

By Kinggodzillak on Wednesday, March 05, 2003 - 2:35 pm:

No, I was right. It was used in other stories too.

Can I check this, the sausage monsters are actually the reanimated bodies of the dead, like Tina etc?

By Snick on Tuesday, May 03, 2005 - 3:12 pm:

Tina had a funeral, I doubt she was turned into a monster, but apparently the monsters were all dead crew members of the ship that went down off Western Island (in the east).
