By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Monday, November 06, 2006 - 5:56 pm:

Where's the personal quote for John A. Lang? Where's: "Hands off, she's mine!"

Oh, and I think I have the best picture in it.
Come to think of it... I think my profile is the only one with a picture...

Oh, and what happened to Mr. Crusher? I haven't seen him post lately... :( Who killed off Nitcentral's acting ensign?

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Monday, November 06, 2006 - 7:55 pm:

Picture added. I don't know where you can find it here on Nitcentral, but I put it up just now.

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Monday, November 06, 2006 - 8:10 pm:

Added my "famous quote" too

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Monday, November 06, 2006 - 8:34 pm:

you can find it by clicking on your name above your posts. that's where you can see my pic and quote. oh, and I don't see any blong hairs on that head...

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Monday, November 06, 2006 - 8:35 pm:

blond!!! I mean Blond!

By Butch Brookshier (Bbrookshier) on Tuesday, November 07, 2006 - 6:27 pm:

Wow, John looks very much like I had imagined him. How weird.

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Tuesday, November 07, 2006 - 9:47 pm:

How do you mean that?

By ScottN (Scottn) on Tuesday, November 07, 2006 - 10:25 pm:

He means that Ms. Sirtis will find your pic attractive.

By Benn Allen (Benn) on Tuesday, November 07, 2006 - 11:40 pm:

Well, if anyone's interested, I've just created my profile.

By Kevin (Kevin) on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 - 1:40 am:

i POSTED MY PIC.
erm...
I posted my pic. I also filled out my profile but for some reason it doesn't show up.

By Kevin (Kevin) on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 - 1:42 am:

And no wonder. I clicked next to all the fields I filled out, not realising that I was telling to script to hide those fields.

By Butch Brookshier (Bbrookshier) on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 - 5:56 am:

John, usually what I imagine someone looks like bears no resemblance to their actual appearance.

By LUIGI NOVI (Lnovi) on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 - 11:41 am:

Benn, is that a recent photo? You cut your hair! It looks good, dude. :)

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 - 11:47 am:

I'm afraid I don't follow you, Butch.

First you say:

Quote:

"Wow, John looks very much like I had imagined him. How weird."

Now you say:

Quote:

"John, usually what I imagine someone looks like bears no resemblance to their actual appearance"

If I am the exception...How so? Clarify.

We never met...ever...yet you seem to have me all figured out....including my looks.

Are my looks so predictable that you assumed in your imagination "That's what John looks like" even before ever seeing my picture?

No wonder I can't get a girlfriend.

By Todd M. Pence (Tpence) on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 - 12:50 pm:

I tried to add a pic to my profile but it won't take anything over 20k - and I don't think I have a pic of me that small.

By Todd M. Pence (Tpence) on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 - 12:53 pm:

I tried to add a pic to my profile but it won't take anything over 20k - and I don't think I have a pic of me that small.

By TomM, RM Moderator (Tom_M) on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 - 3:49 pm:

Well, you can always open one of the pictures you do have in a "paint" program or an image editor and crop and/or resize it so that it fits the board's requirements

By Todd M. Pence (Tpence) on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 - 6:23 pm:

Did it.

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 - 6:33 pm:

hey John A Lang, when was that photo of you taken?

By Butch Brookshier (Bbrookshier) on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 - 6:50 pm:

No, John, it's more that I build up a mental image of someone based on what they've written that I've seen somewhere on the 'net (like here). When I occasionally get to see a picture of someone, it usually doesn't look anything like what I imagined. For some reason, how you write gave me a mental image that just happens to pretty much match how you really look. That's what was weird about it to me. I didn't mean you actually look weird. I hope that explains it well enough. Sorry I didn't make that clear before. I didn't mean it as an insult or criticism. It just struck me because I'm usually way off. :)

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Wednesday, November 08, 2006 - 7:40 pm:

No problemo, Butch. I apologize for going off the deep end like that. I just get a lot of criticism about my looks...especially from women. They see me and they don't (or won't) talk to me or just walk the other way.

BTW, Torque...The picture was taken about 2 years ago.

By Benn Allen (Benn) on Thursday, November 09, 2006 - 12:02 am:

Benn, is that a recent photo? You cut your hair! It looks good, dude. :) - Luigi Novi

I dunno, would you consider taking the pic with my webcam just before posting it recent?

By LUIGI NOVI (Lnovi) on Thursday, November 09, 2006 - 5:29 pm:

I guess. Did you cut it, or did you just have it in a ponytail?

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Thursday, November 09, 2006 - 6:26 pm:

Luigi, I can understand not wanting to show you face in public. But maybe you can get a picture of Luigi from Super Mario Brothers.

and John A. Lang, the reason I was curious because the frames for those classes aren't a style I see around today. Please don't take offense to my observation.

By John A. Lang (Johnalang) on Thursday, November 09, 2006 - 7:48 pm:

None taken, Torque.

I call them "Robert Wise Frames"

By Benn (Benn) on Thursday, November 09, 2006 - 9:37 pm:

No, my hair's been cut (radically) since the last photo you've seen of me. Somehow, I don't think I could get by with having that long of hair in my current line of work.

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Thursday, November 09, 2006 - 9:59 pm:

How about Clark Kent Frames? wink wink

By LUIGI NOVI (Lnovi) on Friday, November 10, 2006 - 6:11 am:

Torque, I tried uploading a pic into my User Profile, but it kept saying that it was too big, even after I repeatedly scaled it down to the point where it was tiny. Sorry.

By Callie (Csullivan) on Friday, November 10, 2006 - 6:20 am:

But maybe you can get a picture of Luigi from Super Mario Brothers.

Or do a WeeMee version like I have. It's scarily accurate - you'd pick me out of a line-up just from that!

By ScottN (Scottn) on Friday, November 10, 2006 - 8:42 am:

I'm not posting a pic on NitC, but you can find a picture of me here.

By Snick (Snick) on Friday, November 10, 2006 - 10:43 am:

Why the change? You've posted the other pic on there before. :-)

By Anonymous on Friday, November 10, 2006 - 12:05 pm:

ScottN, I was expecting a Dilbert tie on that death outfit, not white sneakers!

By ScottN (Scottn) on Friday, November 10, 2006 - 2:14 pm:

Snick, just posted a link to the pic, instead of the whole page :)

By Hannah F., West Wing/C&J Moderator (Cynicalchick) on Friday, November 10, 2006 - 11:33 pm:

Nice New Balances.

So are you a Pratchett character?

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 7:05 am:

Hannah, Is it really necessary to use those "colorful metaphors" in your profile? Surely there are better ways to describe your opinions of GWB...

By Josh_M (Josh_M) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 11:38 am:

Eh, it's the profile page. I'd agree that we're allowed a little more freedom there.

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 1:53 pm:

I never said she couldn't, or that I had any authority to dictate policy in the profiles. I just questioned whether it was necessary.

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 6:11 pm:

Speaking of the profiles, is it wise to have your emails showing? Seeing how this site is getting spammed, I'm a little cautious about having my email be listed in case spams from this spam bot aren't limited to this site.

Of course, that all depends on whether other people have gotten any spam at the email they are using for this site.

By Aaron Dotter (Dotter31) on Saturday, November 11, 2006 - 7:24 pm:

I've had my email on my profile for about a week and I haven't noticed any increase in junk mail. Despite that, I haven't decided if I will leave it there.

I personally do not care how people describe GWB or any politician, but I do know that Phil tries to discourage language like that on his site. IMO if you couldn't post it in a regular post you shouldn't put it in your profile. It certainly is not up to me, however, its up to Phil and/or the moderators.

By Anne Stockwell (Bajoran) on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 12:00 am:

How do you get your profile to show? I've filled out all the appropriate boxes (I think) :) but when I click to see it only my email address shows? What am I doing wrong?

By LUIGI NOVI (Lnovi) on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 5:08 am:

Did you remember to hit "Save This Information" in each of the relevant sections after entering in the info? I've forgotten to do that at least once.

By Anne Stockwell (Bajoran) on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 8:32 am:

Yes, I did. When I click to edit my profile everything is still there. But it doesn't show? Any other ideas?

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 11:40 am:

Could it be a cookies or temp internet files issue.

By Anne Stockwell (Bajoran) on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 6:07 pm:

I know how to clear the temp files. But how to clear the cookies?

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 7:17 pm:

well, in internet explorer, if you go to: tools internet options, there's a button that says delete cookies. ScottN will have to explain it in Firefox since I'm not familar with that program.

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Sunday, November 12, 2006 - 7:19 pm:

clarification
tools in the top menu, scroll down to you see internet options.

By Kevin (Kevin) on Monday, November 13, 2006 - 6:01 am:

Did you do what I did (as mentioned above) and click the 'hide' boxes thinking they were 'Show this field' boxes?

By Anne Stockwell (Bajoran) on Monday, November 13, 2006 - 1:54 pm:

Oops, I think I remember doint that. So how do I fix it?

By Kevin (Kevin) on Monday, November 13, 2006 - 3:54 pm:

Just edit your profile and unclick them.

By MarkN (Markn) on Monday, November 13, 2006 - 4:17 pm:

I never really worked on my profile till just now but the pic I wanted to download was too big so here it in all its glory for y'all to gaze upon (and the wimmin to drool over):

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/IMDragonlord/MarksPictures002_Small.jpg

That was taken a couple of years ago just after New Year's Day. The "Small" in the name refers to when I decreased the size in Photobucket in order to post it elsewhere. And guys, please try not to feel bad that you can't be as incredibly sexy and handsome as I am, ok? We can't all be so lucky. :)

By ScottN (Scottn) on Monday, November 13, 2006 - 5:43 pm:

At last! Someone who looks nerdier than I do!

No offense, Mark :)

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Monday, November 13, 2006 - 6:49 pm:

So are you the "target" for that car in the background or were you just making the person wait for a parking spot?

By MarkN (Markn) on Monday, November 13, 2006 - 10:35 pm:

'S ok, Scott. No offense taken. I've pretty much had a nerdy, dorky look my whole life after puberty anyway. I used to be a cute kid but then I hit puberty and puberty hit me back even harder. The jacket I'm wearing used to be my late Dad's.

Torgue, the Honda SUV I'm standing next to belongs to my brother, Frank, who's the one taking the pic of me with his wife, Kazumi, standing next to him. That's the Target I used to work at. The car making a turn in the background just happened to be there and we weren't blocking it or anything. In fact, I don't even recall anything about it since I wasn't concerned with it.

By Callie (Csullivan) on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 - 2:11 am:

It's a shame we can't post anonymously any more, Mark, cos some of us could have made you feel good by posting some anonymous "squeeeeeeeeee!" comments.

(Well, I would have - and I'm not saying whether I would have been serious or not!)

By Anonymous on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 - 1:50 pm:

WWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHHHH!

Tis a Callie... who's lost her melan

By Callie (Csullivan) on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 - 2:05 am:

Darn - I didn't even see that there was still an Anonymous option! I just automatically assumed that they'd all been disabled.

By Snick (Snick) on Thursday, November 16, 2006 - 3:48 pm:

I see the khakis...but no red, Mark! And you called yourself a citizen of the Red Planet! :-D

By Sharon A. Jordan (Slinkyj) on Saturday, November 18, 2006 - 7:27 am:

Is it alright to post in here to test the new registered situation? I'm not a moderator, am I doing this wrong. I was just hoping to test my new registered position and announce....me! :D
I have been posting on here for years. As you know, you probably are familiar to know me as SlinkyJ. Testing. Is that ok here?

By Butch Brookshier (Bbrookshier) on Saturday, November 18, 2006 - 2:23 pm:

You bet, Slinky.

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Saturday, November 18, 2006 - 6:19 pm:

No Slinky, get out..

By Smart Alec (Smartalec) on Saturday, November 18, 2006 - 11:24 pm:

It's a Slinky Frog! ;-)

By Sharon A. Jordan (Slinkyj) on Sunday, November 19, 2006 - 4:30 pm:

I know, I'm a little jumpy! But I'm lovable, warts and all!

By Hannah F., West Wing/C&J Moderator (Cynicalchick) on Sunday, November 19, 2006 - 5:47 pm:

My pic is a decent likeness. Man, I'm short and round. And awfully pale.

By Anonymous on Sunday, November 19, 2006 - 6:33 pm:

Is that a gasp.. walkman!! where's your I-Pod!!

By LUIGI NOVI (Lnovi) on Monday, November 20, 2006 - 5:23 am:

I have a walkman too. I don't want to give up my AM/FM and network TV audio (channels 2 -13) options. I'm waiting for someone to come up with a digital music player that has those options.

One thing I've always wanted to ask was why those options have not been included in portable CD players and iPods. If people wanted those options in walkmans, why would they not want them in the next generation of portable music players?

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_Voice) on Monday, November 20, 2006 - 10:13 am:

They probably will once the HD radio stations are more widely listened to.

By ScottN (Scottn) on Monday, November 20, 2006 - 10:29 am:

Nope. The record companies are pressuring tech companies into *REMOVING* features that consumers want (recording capabilities), in favor of those they don't (DRM).

After all, we're all obviously pirates and thieves and the Record Companies need to protect their precioussssss profits from us.

By Snick (Snick) on Monday, November 20, 2006 - 11:11 am:

Creative has just agreed to add FM recording capability back to their music players after a major consumer outcry.

By Josh_M (Josh_M) on Monday, November 20, 2006 - 5:36 pm:

I've seen combo CD players/radios. Not iPods though. Not that I've looked.

By justice mann (Dumont) on Monday, November 20, 2006 - 5:38 pm:

Wal mart sells combo cd player radios. They are out there.

By LUIGI NOVI (Lnovi) on Monday, November 20, 2006 - 8:51 pm:

Thanks for the clarification, Josh.

(Again. :))

By justice mann (Dumont) on Monday, November 20, 2006 - 9:46 pm:

Well you're welcome for my part too you know.

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_voice) on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 3:46 pm:

hey bajoran, don't you think it's kind of strange to indicate your name yet hide your gender? I only ask because this is Nitcentral.

By Anne Stockwell (Bajoran) on Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 1:26 am:

Oops sorry, I thought I clicked to show everything. I guess I missed one. :-)

By Anne Stockwell (Bajoran) on Monday, January 01, 2007 - 12:23 am:

Well, what a way to end 2006. I found out that on Dec 27 that they are closing my store on Jan 14. Merry Christmas to me :-(. I was also told yesterday that I wouldn't be transferred to another store because my numbers weren't good enough. Well there goes 7 years of my life down the drain :-(. Fortunately I'm good friends with the manager of the AMC Theatre in the mall I work in. She was agreed to hire me after my store closes. It doesn't pay nearly the same as I was making but it will nearly pay the bills until I can find something else. If not I'll definately keep current on everything playing.

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_voice) on Monday, January 01, 2007 - 11:15 am:

How do you view people's profiles now? Names are either not a link in the profile, or if it is a link, its one that loads up your email program to send an email?

By ScottN (Scottn) on Monday, January 01, 2007 - 3:32 pm:

It's always been an email link.

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_voice) on Monday, January 01, 2007 - 7:32 pm:

uh, ScottN, scroll up to the top of this board and select one of mine which has a link.

By ScottN (Scottn) on Monday, January 01, 2007 - 8:44 pm:

That's odd. Maybe only for private areas?

But what happened between 12:23 and 11:15 AM?

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_voice) on Monday, January 01, 2007 - 8:57 pm:

Is this a "Clue" question?

I'd say: R did it with some dude in the Discus... I mean Disco.

Sorry, couldn't resist

By dude (Somedude) on Monday, January 01, 2007 - 9:01 pm:

Helllo Torque. i may swing but not that far. :-)

Though I do cut a mean Disco swath.

What the heck are we talking about?

By Torque, Son of Keplar (Polls_voice) on Monday, January 01, 2007 - 9:30 pm:

I think its how come we can't view ppl's profiles whilst in this room... which is white... sort of like the one where the prophets talk to Sisko in...

By dude (Somedude) on Monday, January 01, 2007 - 11:09 pm:

Oh that explains a lot.

By Tmurphy (Tmurphy) on Tuesday, January 02, 2007 - 11:57 am:

The White Room? The Senior Partners are the Prophets? Did you see a black leopard or an "innocent" little girl in the White Room?

By dude (Somedude) on Tuesday, January 02, 2007 - 4:23 pm:

If you find THX1138 in the white room let him know he lost his wookie.
